I don't believe they deliberately misrepresented the game like I think was done with Aliens: Colonial Marines.

I think they are trying to deliver a good product but they did probably underestimate the scope of their undertaking. It happens. I don't think it's a class action-worthy eff up though.

Plus it's not necessarily the fans suing Gearbox; It's SEGA being pissed off about getting a shoddy product and allowing the blame-game to focus on the other company instead of smashing this lawl-suit like the ironic albatross that it is.

Nothing says I love video games like threatening to sue the developers and setting precidents that make the game market not even inhospitable but outright hostile to small or independent developers.

^This is the attitude people have nowadays. They care more about the companies than the consumers who have less money than them. He doesn't care about me, he doesn't care about you.

Are you people for real? Don't you have better things to do with your time?

    I've seen it all now...

    Whiny, spoilt, idiotic brats.

I'm ashamed to enjoy this form of entertainment when people like you, who are considering this, fester on this earth.

More accurately I care more about the industry's survival and ability to produce good games than I do how much your sense of entitlement has been bruised.

In the case of Gearbox pulling shyster crap like this again? The point is very valid. They won't be able to pull this nonsense with their next titles. Pitchford won't be walking around selling people on a lie. They won't be able to successfully sell pre-orders for another title that has impressions and review embargoes that only lift on release day. They definitely won't be able to thumb their noses at the customers they took for a ride and basically say to them, 'yeah we did that. So what?'
It also sends a message to any publisher that some crap will not be tolerated, and losing face as a company isn't going to hurt as much as having legal action taken against them for bad business practices. And most of all, it keeps everyone honest. Don't like what you see now? Check back in a month or two, we'll have something new to show. Time should be invested in periodically selling a game on its merits and development. That's what marketing departments are for.

Defiance is a different matter completely. Legal action in this regard is just plain stupid and doesn't get anyone anything that they want. By its very design this game can still come through on all expectations and more. Any claim of false advertising is dubious at best. Misguided and presumptuous even in that the expressed complaints are far from being universal.
