    Is this Beta region locked?

Playing in the UK and wanted to play with a couple friends who were the playing the xbox version in the US but was unable to find them or invite them using the xbox guide. I wanted to know if the servers are restricted to region and if they are will they be open to all regions when the game releases in April

I would like to know that too. Me and my friends use US Xbla accounts here in Germany. Would be a little bit stupid if the game would put us all on the US servers cause of that.

This is a question I would like to know too, both in respect of Beta and retail release. I don't have many friends originating in the UK but have a bunch from the US, and it would be awkward to be playing the same game and be involved in a party chat with people but with me being the only one who can't be part of the game. It may also be that there is a current region lock now, but will be relaxed later in the Beta, and that's okay. I'm really only going to be concerned if it's a thing and one that'll carry on into retail.

    Region Locked

I want to know the answer to this too. I am in the US but have several friends in our clan who are UK, we will be very disappointed if we can't play together.

    It definitely is.

Yes, the beta is currently region locked without a choice of regional servers. I'm still waiting for Trion to explain how this will be handled in the retail version. If the retail game is region locked, Trion just lost thousands of sales.

There still seems to be no official response to this, and that's rather worrying. I have contemplated buying the game myself, but being unable to play with friends would be a major detriment to my interest. If this is a thing that will continue into retail, I would wish Trion and everyone involved with Defiance the best of luck, but it would be going ahead without me. As much as I've enjoyed the Beta and getting involved with it, I don't want it to be a game I just have sitting on a shelf because I don't have the ability to play it with friends I know would be playing it (like, for example, Borderlands or Battlefield).

And please don't mistake me for one of these whiners - I know it's a Beta, and I have had very few problems with the Beta in general (in fact I've enjoyed it to the point of being convinced to buy it). This is really the only thing holding my wallet back, because it's a great and solid game otherwise (I suspect the polish in sound timing and effects can easily be done before April 2) and I would encourage those whom this matter doesn't bother to buy it. It's just that most of the people I know aren't European, and co-op at least so far in the Beta is not possible.

Yeah, my friends are split between Austrailia and US. Not being able to group with the AU players makes it a pass for me too. Hopefully Trion answers this question for us soon, as it will affect thousands of players.
