I think they're desperate to just break even at the minute, a game 5+ years in the making and a TV show to coincide with it... That's big budget stuff. I don't think the game has brought in as much as they were hoping.

Don't get me wrong, I really do enjoy this game, but I'd love to be able to buy some new outfits, I'm just not going to throw £15 at them to have one outfit and head... I do wish that there were more efficient ways to get keycodes though, something like 1 per emergency.

They're just trying to recoup all the money they are about to lose when a few people or no one buys this game in a few months. $80 million plus advertising down the spitter. That's unless they start making changes for the better.

What trion could do is finally implement key fragments, and make emergencies give a few of those out or where applicable. Instead of whole key codes. That way well feel like theres a point to farming the same emergencies day in and out. I enjoy this game more than the average person on these forums, but im even starting to feel like just driving by the. I never see anyone else doing them so theres really no need to stop and help, and yeah they are fun,.........the first 1000 times. After that with no reward no mtter how big or small(id accept small) they are just there to complete pursuits. I think a key fragment or two would be a good compromise. Anyone know how many fragments makes 1 code?
Just fyi im not one of the complainers who were farming for keycodes...mine were always maxed because I didnt even buy lockboxes. Just recently starting buying lockboxes and lockbox mod caches

I can't speak for production costs, but I can imagine putting all this together was rather expensive

I just think there are better ways to make the game profitable than what they are currently doing

The problem with the defiance store is the pricing structure (in my opinion)

But instead of just complaining, I'll throw in a couple more suggestions...

First of all, base price for everything is too high. Especially considering some of the bonus' don't work all the time.
Reducing the cost AND adding sales would greatly increase revenue for Trion.

For example- group boost costs $1
have an occasional sale of 10 group boosts for $9 , and you'll be given tickets to use the other ones at your leisure. (JCPenny proved how important public perception of sales are)

or adding more cosmetics at lower prices
For example - additional cosmetic slots for everything from glasses to gloves to backpacks
These could range in price from $.50-$3 and I'm sure they would be a hit and bring in much more money than the 10 overpriced outfits they currently have

I completely agree with this. In Borderlands 2 they brought out some special heads and skins for about £3. I bought them because I thought, hey, 5 different heads and outfits for £3? Sure, that's not a lot...

In Defiance I can buy 1 head and 1 outfit for 5 times that... £15 is the most insane price I've ever seen.

I'd only pay that much for permanent XP boosts or something. It's beyond ridiculous.

Heres some statistics to really show how much they made off sales!

You know, when you said permanent XP boost, I definitely thought to myself "yeah, I'd definitely pay $15 for that too"

and then the pessimist in me came out and thought about developers creating perfectly balanced games/leveling systems, and then making it 10% harder while adding a permanent XP boost at release

the next step in corporate greed!

    perhaps we've said too much

Agreed, horribly overpriced items across the board.

The lockboxes take the cake in my book; if I wanted to gamble with money, I'd access a casino in the flesh or online. And to be fair, the slightly less than half chance of breaking even in Blackjack beats the chance of getting a high-tiered item out of a lockbox, at least in my experience.
