So, is Defiance Any Good?

There was a patch released after launch that replaces nearly half of the data in your Defiance directory. Since your disc has an earlier build of the game (and because Trion uses a completely inefficient patching method that we could go as far as labeling "ridiculous"), that's going to add a lot to your download time, unfortunately, despite the game only being out a month.

I wish I could say it's due to the sheer amount of content and bug fixing that's happened since launch, but that would be complete B.S..

Fortunately, it's still fun enough to play (particularly as a new player where you have nothing but new content to consume). I need to find a good sale so I can grab another copy for a friend who absolutely refuses to buy Defiance at its current price.

Well seeing as Sledgehammer has played PvP on his live Stream twice in the last three days, I hardly doubt they are ignoring it. Not to mention they are bringing about a ton of PvP content soon....

Thanks for the responses guys. The game finally finished patching, took half a night and most of a day. I knew it must be downloading the game all over again. No big deal, I had other stuff to do while waiting.

I strongly suggest finding an active clan because it can make the game all the better when you are killing Dark Matter with your clan.

Like I said Amazon has copies for $30 bucks that is half the price Trion, Digital D/L sites, Steam or even Walmart has it listed for. I was not gonna pay $60 bucks for the game either, just from the reviews. Plus I have been in FireFall closed beta playing - what I believed - was something similar, for free.

Good to see such an active clan (noticed there was about 15+ on your TS a moment ago. Shame its NA though (Eu here). Oh well
