No need to worry, I made a mistake they have sold billions lol

It is a great game full of live bugs eating the binary code. Give it time and say a little prayer because good things come to those who wait.

Does this patch fix any bugs a lot of the reviews mention at release?

Is the ingame community good or is it just dash and grab everywhere with no real communication? I ask because one video I watched just showed people making mad dashes to Arkfalls just to grab the loot, and everyone is standing around spamming a button to pick up all the loot.

Is the item shop a pay 2 win shop? If I don't spend money will I still be able to play effectively? Or will I be at a disadvantage?

Should I just stop the patch and play something else for a few more months until issues with the game are fixed?

    Thanks

    Short answer......no

Honestly...it's the first game I've ever had the pleasure to play like this and it seems to be the first of it's kind, really. An actual 3rd Person Shooter with a real sci fi story instead of the standard military stuff in most shooter games.

Random ark falls, coupled with an actual story that's somewhat fun and interesting to follow with weapon mechanics that aren't all that difficult to understand.

The problem I think right now with this game is that it's new, combining elements people aren't quite used to seeing all in one place and it's different and people aren't quite sure what to make of it. You either like it immensely or you hate it with a passion. There seems to be no middle ground.

I'm not familiar with how Trion works with bugs or whatever...but I will say this...

Running over packs of mobs with a Dodge Challenger Hemi RT makes for a hell of a stress reliever.

Also they made a PITA out of the Jackleg Joe fight...reminds me of raid bosses elsegame back in the day.

If you ask the overall forum community, you will get pretty much nothing but Troll responses sadly. Despite what Ulfgaard said, the patches have been fixing problems, slowly but surely. They have been known to break something right after patching, but then Trion comes in and fixes it right away (or takes it away until it can be fixed: See Freight Yard as an example lol). For whatever reason, people like to hold onto the past, even if the issue is no longer relevant. If past bugs bother you, that no longer exist (or hold a grudge as most of the forum posters do), then you will hate this game.

In it's current state, the game is perfectly playable. Why you are patching constantly I am unsure, should have only taken you a couple of hours. I suggest you download the client directly from Trion's website instead of using the CD. Might help a bit.

Community wise, you won't see much action in the chat channels in game since the chat is barbaric (you can tell I am a fan of the game, and even I can admit the chat needs a lot of work). Trion has admitted as much, it won't happen tomorrow (as many people expect it to for whatever reason) but it will get fixed eventually. I strongly suggest finding an active clan because it can make the game all the better when you are killing Dark Matter with your clan.

    My 2 scrip anyways.
You might want to read the tech forums too like the other guy suggested. Because not being able to login are not a thing of the past and it is still an issue for quite a few including myself. There are also a dozen bugs that still exist in the game from alpha even, so I would not be so eager to say things are getting fixed so surely.

Yeah I have played now all weekend and gotta say I do love it. As for bugs I haven't really noticed any, but I did play Fallen Earth for almost 6 months before getting Defiance. That game has been out for several years and still has bugs.

    Thanks for the input guys.

Oh dear god, if Trion's getting compared to Gamersfirst now it's all over.

GamersFirst did not develop Fallen Earth nor do they fix anything with the game, they just host it. So unless Trion starts hosting multiple games developed by other companies, no one is comparing them. I merely stated that Fallen Earth has been out for several years and still has a lot of bugs... just as many as others are saying Defiance has and Defiance has only been in release for a few weeks now. *shrug*

"Fallen Earth is a free-to-play MMO developed by Reloaded Productions (formerly by North Carolina-based Icarus Studios and Fallen Earth)."

"On June 16, 2011, it was announced that Fallen Earth's development would be taken over by Reloaded Productions and GamersFirst."

Reloaded Productions is responsible for "fixes" and development. Gamersfirst hosts the game and manages accounts. HUGE difference.

All developed and maintained by different companies.

Like I said GamersFirst is an account management and hosting service.

What you describe is exactly what part of Red Door is.
