A Letter to Trion...

Dear Trion,

First off, I'm sorry that things did not go well since the launch of Defiance. I know that all the staffs are trying their best to fix all the issues and make the community better. This is one of those first-time thing, and we can all learn from it.

Second, I want to thank you for the past few weeks that you been trying to keep the game up running and you did a good job. A lot of player do not appreciate for all the things you did for us and I'm sorry again.

Third, allow me to make some suggestion. Slow down with all new projects, work on our current issues. You already trying to handle three system at once, ( Xbox, PS3, PC) it takes a lot of work and man-power. Also you are trying to keep up with the show and on the second week, you already lagged behind a day.

I can't speak for all the players of Defiance but I believe you should stop trying to keep up with the show and work on the game. I don't think many players would blame you.
I hope one of the staffs will read this and consider it in your next meeting.

This second post is dedicate to all the players.
I know someone will hate and we will call each other names. But let's chill out and talk for a bit.

If you created a game, you let other people play it and they are real disappointed in your work. Do you think you will standby and don't care what everyone else think ? Or will you try to make it better so other people will be happy about your works ? Think about Trion's situation.

Then the part of making money, I don't think Trion is super greedy.
During End of Nations, a lot of people bought the special edition to get access to the beta. I thought the game was great but after a while they shut it down and refund all of the money. If they were greedy they would just let players play the "crappy version" of the game and just let you rage away.

Not greedy, but all we still need money for the bills and feed their families. Think about the cost of running the server alone right now.

They did this, that's why we don't have the DLC that was supposed to launch the same day with the show.

Second - the content they've been releasing alongside the show was also likely completed weeks ago, requiring little to no effort to activate. I highly doubt the artists were scrambling to make elemental hellbugs the day before the show aired.

Here's the thing, no one is questioning that the Devs at Trion are working their butts off trying to make things work. What people are saying is the Dev Team over there is so inept that all the want in the world isnt going to fix their stuff. If we waited for them to fix everything broken before the release new content, we would be well into the next generation of consoles before they actually got to release it. They cant fix a typo in the name of an emergency without crashing 3/4 of their server farm, come on. That is beyond unacceptable.

Next, this is not the first try at a console MMO. There have been a couple before this, so its not the first try. Then seriously, can the people over at Trion not read? A games launch is probably the most important part of a games sales. If you launch does not go smoothly, you dont get that 2nd influx of buying a week later. There will always be those of us who run out to get a game on launch day just for the exclusivity of it, however, a large portion of the gaming market waits for our reviews of these games to make their decision on when to purchase it. As we witnessed with both Diablo III and SimCity, if your launch is pathetic, we give pathetic ratings of your game, then that coveted 2nd round of buyers stays away. Smooth launch = big 2nd week sales. Trion humped the bunk on this. Again, their team over there showing they dont care what other people think.

As far as the money situation goes... yep, the people at Trion have their bills to pay... And so do I. I spent 125$ on a product even on a good day I cant use. Co-Ops spawn into bugged missions that have no enemies and cant be completed, PVP is a joke, and arkfalls now crash the game. How is this playable? The one thing in the game that does ALMOST work, the main storyline, theres no point in doing it more then once. The only change in the loot is its higher EGO level, which doesnt change anything on the weapon anyway. My best weapon is still an EGO 180 SV-2 Currior ShotGun. I got an EGO 2108 version that has exactly the same stats, lol. Whats the point? But yet I was still expected to pay money for it, money that could have went for any number of things, instead it was stolen from me by Trion. Now we hear the only way to get extra playable content is to pay more for it. Please, dont try and convince me this is not just another example of corporate greed at its finest. If they wernt greedy, we could contact Trion for a refund of our purchase price.

The shows were filmed ages ago, they just play them on TV now, the entire series 1 is already finished and being released on weekly intervals. So all game to show stuff is already done, polished and packaged ready for release for when the time is right.

all the season 1 pursuits, contents and first DLC was most likely added with that 4gb patch, simply inactive. Now its just delayed over months until season 1 ends.

Don't simply assume. Assumption is the death of the act of concentrated thinking over something.
It may be inactive, or it may be planned to be installed in patches. But I don't think that really have any real effect in things ATM or in the near future.

And often times it takes major feedback from a community/customers for a business to take seriously the idea that they need things fixed timely. That's part of why you will often times see "Customer Feedback" with things associated with companies/businesses (especially chains).
This is not specifically about games, software, or specific companies. Simply true in a general consensus of business.
