If you want new content you gotta pay for it.

So with the announcement of the DLC I am curious how people are taking the news. As a community we have been asking for more content for a while now, not only because a lot of us have completed the current amount of content but also because most of us feel the amount of content released with the game was insufficient especially for the price tag.

Now we have been informed that the game in its current form is considered complete and finished as intended. There is no intended new content for those who have purchased the game and at the moment all new story content will have a price tag attached to it.

Just some perspective I have started playing Neverwinter online which is a free to play MMO that I have spent about 60 hours playing so far and am nowhere near completing available content and the developers have informed the community that no story content will ever have a price tag on it.

In the same 60 hours playing defiance (I have over 200 hours logged into the game in less than 3 weeks) I had already completed the episode missions, killed Nim and finished all the side quest and all 4 player maps excluding cronkhite bunker which was bugged for me. The rest of that time was spend grinding pursuits, doing trials, helping guild mates and just generally messing around for new content.

Obviously my opinion Is that the story content should not be part of the DLC not because it never should but rather because the game in its current state hasn't proven its value. Clearly this is just my opinion which I do know is shared by others but I am curious about the perspective of others and how they feel the game has proven its value. I help produce online content and would like some differing opinions on what people think about the current state of the game with this new information.

As a last note I am definitely appreciative to the Trion team for releasing this information to the community, that is definitely appreciated by all and we hope will continue.

Just because I'm not paying a subscription doesn't excuse them for releasing a half-empty box with an IOU inside. I'll get my money's worth, whether it's standing over the mangled corpse of the game while they repeatedly try to patch in content that should've been there at release (Freight Yard) or whether they continue to make feeble attempts to retain players (DLC/Content updates.)

IMO, you have received your money's worth (and more) just from playing these forums! Admit it, actual game play, for you, is a bonus!

Oh come on. You all wanted new content and info on the upcoming content. They've given you that, now you're complaining that you have to pay for it? Have you been living under a rock for the past 10 years? DLC always costs, one way or another. They need to eat for christs sake.

It really is that simple! Don't buy any DLC's, stop playing the game, cut your losses and move on without making a FOOL of yourselves crying all over these forums like spoilt little children... unless you like providing the rest of the Defiance community some comic relief during server downtimes

I consider the spectacle worth the cost of admission for me, yes. I would rather it have gone into a full game worthy of Trion, though. I tend to be much less forumdweller when the game itself holds my attention-- had this been merely an average release, or a release from anyone other than Trion, I would've gotten bored of this quickly.

I think in the entire Rift launch I made 5 posts. I was too busy server-firsting Greenscale/RoS (I'm soooo huuungrrryyy). FFXIV? I'm in the thousands. There are many many others I dare not mention.

But no. Here we have gems like "mmo doesn't need chat" and "Freight Yard Telenovela" that keep me glued to the set. And Trion (of all people) bungling QA. That should be impossible. In my head that just can't happen.

I suppose this all has taught me Trion is mortal, after all. Though I wish they stayed atop Olympus.

Bro im playing neverwinter also and im all most done with the story come back when you have clocked 200 hours into it.And when people payed 60 for lets say bioshock you got maybe 10 hours and the dlc cost more for what 2 hours of story play.
And if u read it correct u can do the story with a friend for free just no credit but you can see all cutscense sre all the story so u can play for free
