Also I have a feeling that the game is financially carrying the show until they have the over all ratings and DvD sales for the first season, this is expensive stuff they are doing. They have single shards when it comes to regions and so on. Besides Guild Wars 2 was so boring and chaotic that you could argue it's still in beta.

Defiance the show is winning its time slot as the highest-rated drama in any genre for all cable networks, and SyFy's parent company Comcast is highlighting Defiance the show to their investors as an example of their successful programming strategy. You can bet your *** that the game is most certainly not carrying the show.

I am the same way. Loved the game concept, saw there was a show attached and went "meh, why not?" and got hooked.

Not all games are created equal, does GW have more content, I wouldn't know I've never played it, it is on my list of games to check out though. Just because both games are B2P doesn't mean they will have equal amounts of content, nor are they even in the same type of games, GW is a fantasy based game, with swords and magic, Defiance is a shooter. You can only do so many things when it comes to shooting.

I already asked, what content do people want that the game doesn't already have? What content does the game need to in your opinion justify the price?

all I see is yada yada yada.. guild wars 2 yada yada yada. All games aren't created equal, MMO doesn't magically mean anything other than Massively Multiplayer Online game. What you think an MMO should be doesn't matter. Massively Multiplayer Online this game is that.

As I've been sitting here thinking I'm curious what content people want that this game doesn't have? What the ability to go farm the same boss over and over again to look for better weapons. Raid content? More group content? Thus far we have 7 co-op missions, numerous dynamic events, and quite a few side mission repeatable quest.

So what content do you want the game to have but it doesn't? Also like I said, it's not an MMORPG, it's an MMO <--- IE Massively Multiplayer Online game. Cost >> game time is much higher than 90% of console games and 60% of PC games released in the past 6 years.

My personal opinion is that if we're still playing in the same zone, any story/content updates that take place in that zone should have been covered by the initial purchase cost to access that zone.

This of course excludes itemization and cosmetic additions, as long as itemization additions do not impact the level of balance of the existing items.

If they open up brand new sections of map, I would understand not having access to story arcs that take place in those zones. While I would appreciate that they let us access new zones, regardless of DLC purchase, it would be understood that I had not paid for content taking place in the new area.

That's how LotRO handles it. You can go hang out in most of them, kill stuff, help people, but you can't get quests. Works out "nicely" in my opinion. You'd still be able to access new arkfalls and emergencies under this method.

I can understand your point, but allow me to retort, in other games that have zones and expansions, if you don't buy the expansion you get zero access to the zones that are contained with in the expansions. Such as EQ if I didn't own the expansion I couldn't visit the zone. Such as not owning Planes of Power meant I couldn't visit the Plane of Knowledge (although that's changed now and I'd wager everyone owns POP since buying any new expansion nets you all the old expansions)

I cant' speak for other games but very rarely if ever does a game give you access to the content included with the DLC for free. I think they should open up the map, but if they don't it won't be the end of the world for me. Consoles have held the game back, rushing the game for the television show have held the game back.

Ultimately this game is decent, it was well worth the 60 I paid, and if people would come down from this magical cloud they have been sitting on, look around at the other new games they've purchased they'll see it was well worth it as well.

So with the announcement of the DLC I am curious how people are taking the news. As a community we have been asking for more content for a while now, not only because a lot of us have completed the current amount of content but also because most of us feel the amount of content released with the game was insufficient especially for the price tag.

Now we have been informed that the game in its current form is considered complete and finished as intended. There is no intended new content for those who have purchased the game and at the moment all new story content will have a price tag attached to it.

Just some perspective I have started playing Neverwinter online which is a free to play MMO that I have spent about 60 hours playing so far and am nowhere near completing available content and the developers have informed the community that no story content will ever have a price tag on it.

In the same 60 hours playing defiance (I have over 200 hours logged into the game in less than 3 weeks) I had already completed the episode missions, killed Nim and finished all the side quest and all 4 player maps excluding cronkhite bunker which was bugged for me. The rest of that time was spend grinding pursuits, doing trials, helping guild mates and just generally messing around for new content.

Obviously my opinion Is that the story content should not be part of the DLC not because it never should but rather because the game in its current state hasn't proven its value. Clearly this is just my opinion which I do know is shared by others but I am curious about the perspective of others and how they feel the game has proven its value. I help produce online content and would like some differing opinions on what people think about the current state of the game with this new information.

As a last note I am definitely appreciative to the Trion team for releasing this information to the community, that is definitely appreciated by all and we hope will continue.

I paid for the game, not paying for any additional content, especially in the condition the game is in. So, I will play till I get board or they fix everything and make the game actually playable. Cheers!

Subscription based games is the ONLY way to go .. all these other games are scams and eventually just die. They get all the suckers money and close shop. sad but true!
