Hi this is a you buy and get to play for free game, if it had a sub attached I am sure it would be a much richer world. They are not money grabbing they are trying to secure more cash to expand the world.

Those that are whining must not understand that it will be a max of $50 a year right now for DLC to provide extra content which beats F2P (p2w by the whales(those spending thousands) and any sub based game with a min of $120-180 a year. Oh then you have games that are like TSW where they are alive from DLC and outfits to keep the game going and it has been doing alright its not hemorrhaging players. So I am fine with this game as a early adopter if you feel wronged maybe you need to understand the new era of online gaming.

Right now I feel the set up is fine.

Such as not owning Planes of Power meant I couldn't visit the Plane of Knowledge (although that's changed now and I'd wager everyone owns POP since buying any new expansion nets you all the old expansions)

I cant' speak for other games but very rarely if ever does a game give you access to the content included with the DLC for free. I think they should open up the map, but if they don't it won't be the end of the world for me. Consoles have held the game back, rushing the game for the television show have held the game back.

Ultimately this game is decent, it was well worth the 60 I paid, and if people would come down from this magical cloud they have been sitting on, look around at the other new games they've purchased they'll see it was well worth it as well.
As I mentioned, I appreciate their statement that they don't want to segregate the population. That said, they haven't actually introduced any content in the form of new zones. I believe some people are starting to become skeptical of whether or not Trion will hold to what they said, as some feel they have not lived up to what they initially promised with the game we have access to now.

I am enjoying the game for what i paid for it, but could honestly say I would feel somewhat disgruntled had I paid any more, given how it's turned out. I am somewhat disappointed that the Trion is proving to be much less generous than ArenaNet, but that is really my own fault for having such unfounded grandiose expectations.

Unfortuantely most subscription based games can't stay afloat. It's sad but true, the only subscription based game that I think does well is WoW, the rest of them manage to stay afloat barely. It's why most of them go F2P, I still miss my EQ playing days but in all honesty I realize how much wasted time I spent in that game, I think something like 250 days on my main character, that's 6000 hours... Totally insane
Yes it is a real place, and yes I really do live there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intercourse,_Pennsylvania also yes, people have stolen the signs and other things with the name of our town on it unfortunately.

OP, do you consistently fail to research games before you purchase them, or is this just a one time thing? They specifically offered a DLC multi-pass prior to the game's release. That should tell you that if you want a significant expansion of content, you're going to have to buy it. Somehow, you missed this detail. I'm not sure how, since they did everything but dance naked in the streets waving a sign and announce it would be so, but you did manage to. If you want a buy to play game with content expansions that are free, can I suggest GW 2? Myself, I found GW 2 to be bloody boring, but maybe you'll like it.

Everything is going to be free. They've said you can experience it all for free. You just can't use anything without paying money. Which means no new pursuits, no new gear, nothing. Just get to see it.

I don't mind paying, but my problem is that the game was released with very little content, personally speaking. I was kind of hoping for more storyline stuff added before the DLC(So I had something to do while I wait) and it doesn't look like it is going to happen. And I'm afraid that the DLC wont offer really that much more. It's going to be like an hour worth of more content and I'm gonna get bored again.

Subscription based is a dying breed, and there are plenty of non sub MMOs out that disprove everything you said here. WoW has been bleeding subscribers, to many good options out there that don't charge a monthly fee.

The lack of content in the base game could be forgiven if the DLC content is acceptional. Having no subscription fee is a big deal and they deserve credit for this, it's a big risk. So i'd have no problem with pay dlc. My concern is that the dlc will be flat and bland. More concerning though, is the quite real possibility that the glitches will continue to make the game un playable. I have hope that it will get better but, I have no faith that it will.
    I can't tell if I'm a cynic or a realist.
