Thread: Gamer Girls

    Gamer Girls

Gamer girls are basically the girls that seperate themselves from other gamers, because they think being a girl that games is something unique. It can be considered unique, since there are more guys that play games than girls. Some girls love to take advantage of that for the mere fact that they know they can get alot of attention from guys. Those girls love the attention. This attention can be used in this example:

"Hi I'm a gamer girl and I love to play video games"
*Basically means they want everyone to know that they are a girl. This could come from attention or it could be the fact that they have been called a guy when they play, because some guys are stereotypical when it comes down to more guys playing games than girls and think that someone who plays on a girl character is a guy automatically. In my opinion, I view it as the first one more than the second one. Personally, I have been called a guy when playing a game, since I am a high level in that game or have expensive items. Some guys don't think a girl would put in so much gameplay.

I've been wanting to talk about this for sometime, but I didn't know when to bring it up. I thought I would now since a guy messaged me a good example. He told me that guys are suckers for gamer girls, and that us gamer girls are lucky lil things. It is true in a way. There are guys that love a girl that games, because those girls share a huge interest of theirs.

Some gamer girls are born from that attention.

In my opinion, there is no gender when it comes to gaming. A gamer is a gamer no matter what. I suppose I would rather use the term for "gamer girl" as "someone that games", because they do not deserve the title as gamer. It use to annoy me when I would come across a gamer girl, because in a way, they do give a bad name to girls that game. I also would get alot of hate, because I had more accomplished than they did, and I suppose they thought it would steal their attention away. I really do not care anymore. I actually feel bad for them.

I am curious to hear your opinions.

*I've seen it more with MMO's on the computer, but it could be different for Xbox. I suppose everyone has different experiences.

Or the occasional, hi im female, i play video games and suck at them, pay attention to me. Then you have ones like my sister, who has a boyish gamertag won't talk untill needed, and manages an ok kd in call of duty games.

I put my gender as other all the time.

Oh right, those "Girls" who only play Call of Duty and assume they are a gamer I don't like those, that's the attention seekers.

Edit: I don't call girls "gamer girls" I just say Gamer.

I demand that gender be separated by server.

On a serious note I agree that gamers are gamers. There is no gender on the label it is just natural I guess that guys lean more to the gaming world than girls. Doesn't mean girls don't exist they are just not as common as guys which makes guys all crazy when they come across a girl.

I once made a joke towards someone who got upset because he was flirting with who he thought was a girl due to the character soon finding out he was a guy. I told him and everyone else around that girls don't exist on the internet. They laughed of course but it is a decent mindset to have so long as you don't take it too seriously.

I feel this goes into when guys play girl characters for the perks of acting like a girl in which they can get pampered by other players. It is best to just assume everyone is a guy and if they say otherwise don't shower them in gifts and an altered attitude.

I will say that I see less of what you were primarily getting at with the flirting and such and less guys playing girl characters just for the perks. However guys still praise girls when they find one and treat her like a goddess in hopes she will be theirs.

I do have a girlish gamertag, but I just like the name. I do talk on the mic at times, but it's usually to talk business or on an ocassional basis for trash talking. You know how much some guys love to trash talk when it comes down to competition. lol

I am a hermaphrodite (Intersexed if you want the new, polite term). When you're a member of Team Hermaphrodite every game has a solo campaign, Reliance on mics means your friends list is mostly going to be added to be accident, and we play the games in the dark.

You don't have to play in the dark, but if it could also be raining inside my room I think it would do that, too.

Well not flirting per say more like flaunting, like if a guy says,"Oh it's so hot that you play video games." I have seen some guys play on girl characters just for the perks. It's really hard to say for Defiance though with alot of guys playing on girl characters, but I wouldn't think so.

I agree completely with you. We game therefore, we must be gamers. I have seen to many stunts pulled by girls and heard a large amount of BS. All for the sake of attention or for personal gain. I just love to play games, someone out there is always going to better than at things anyways. Either in looks, skill or wit.

I game on par as an average or I guess casual gamer. I do we'll for me, many people game worse or better. Great post OP.
