Sometimes. As I said though, a good signature is like a good advertisement...you may not always remember the message or the verbiage, but there's a great chance you remember the visual appeal. If people like your signature, there's a fair chance that they'll like you regardless of what you say.

To be honest when I see over elaborate signatures I think the person has too much spare time. Also when people try to compete with them I believe it is rather sad.

In what way is it sad? We compete on a game everyday for fun, what the hell is the difference. Not to mention if you see someone with a good sig you know that they are normally someone that knows there way around a forum. It's no different then wanting the best outfits in game. This thread wasn't even made for off-topic people, it was for the trading community (that we hang out with everyday in game) for fun outside of trading. This thread should have been closed and not even moved here to begin with.

Honestly in my opinion I see no point. Also I don't really think one can claim the signature as their own unless they made everything in it personally that oncludes the picture. Also your signature has mo connection to how well you know your way around a forum.

Personally a persons signature has no effect on me and wont effect my opinion of them.

I must disagree. You're more likely to remember someone if their signature is either appealing to you or appalling to you, it's just human nature and the way our brain remembers things.

Actually in my visitor conversations you can see how a signature can help connect you around a forum, or even across gaming forums. As I said earlier, a consistent theme works wonders.

Not really. Most people probably just glance at the signature and don't really pay attention to them.
