They certainly will reveal some parts of the map. They might use the existing areas to indroduce us to the new content and hopefully more enemies.

That's pretty much what I think.
If you aren't going to pay for the pack why should Trion allow you to explore the content they worked on anyways? You think the company is doing all this for free? If you leave I don't think Trion cares since you weren't going to pay for the pack anyways.

If you are NOT paying, you won't get anything good, plain and simple.
Not only that this game has nothing new since the Alpha, but we all paid for it, and many spent hundreds so far (UE, DD etc)
So imagine, you already paid for the smallest MMO ever created, and you get nothing new.
Do you seriously think you'll get anything in the future for free?...

Trion needs money, and a lot of it if they want to keep this game alive.
And so far they are getting nothing out of their micro store where you can find most of the outfits in game already as rewards doing missions, co-op maps and pursuits, what is left for them to make money out of it?
Lock boxes? no, if you want to see companies making millions in cash with lockboxes, go take a look at games like STO, or SWTOR, or Neverwinter, the content of those boxes is worth the price : Huge ships, exclusive purple rare mounts and zillions of other goodies you cannot find in game.
So what is left for the Defiance store...? Boosters.
Anyone here is buying tons of boosters?... anyone?
Not at all, because there is no reason in this game to buy any boosters.

Then basically, as we speak, with no monthly fees, Trion is running a 100% free game with almost no income from it.

What i say is, bring the big fireworks!
Release tons of content that we have to pay for, and if it's big enough, and truly worthy and amazing?
Don't worry, we'll pay for it, me the 1st.
Then the game will become huge and fun again.

And for those who are always crying to get everything for free?
Play single console games and stop playing MMOs.

No time to ride the line!

Haha this for sure! People don't understand that Trion isn't doing this for their own good health... If you plan to play for free then all you're going to get is the main story and all those side missions. One time thing for a one time purchase. If you want new content then what's the problem with paying for it??

Personally, I like this DLC method, it's very similar to the LotRO style - access the new areas, look around, kill stuff, but restrict missions and rewards. It does cost to keep the servers up, and to produce the new content, so, if you're just a casual player, you can enjoy a fair amount of the features. If you're a dedicated player, you're free to purchase more should you choose to.
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.

Not working at all like that man c'mon. You know modern MMOs better than that.
Was a minstrel in LOTRO for 4 years, and trust me when they introduced the free to play feature, you better had your lifetime sub or going premium subscriber,
because you'd get nothing out of this game at all.
Simple basic features and that's it. The real game was only open to subscribers and... The whole Monster Play was closed 100% to non-subscribers as about 3/4 of all what the game was.

Same now in all MMOs, if you want everything for free, you get almost nothing.
Don't be afraid of the words Iron, it's like that, everything cost something.
You pay for what you love? Then you get what you love.
    You don't? Then you won't.

There are still things in life that are 100% free...
Fresh air outside, little birdies singing, swimming in a lake, and enjoying a walk in the park.
But none of those things are related to the gaming industry.
It's a choice to make. And the same choice will also apply to Defiance.

No time to ride the line!
