I could be mistaken, but my takeaway from the rare loot weekend event is that your chances increase because there is simply more loot dropping. I haven't seen any increase in rarity per-se, but I have seen an increase in the amount of drops. The more things drop, the better your chances at scoring something useful. 8791263847123 white drops is not the same as a purple or an orange though.

But that's wrong. Lock boxes are the only way to get oranges and they have a set drop number so increased drop rates don't get you anything useful at all...though I guess if you salvage everything you might get more lock boxes if your drops are increased, but that's not the same thing.

ya I don't know if I'm imagining it but there seems to be just more drops overall. Ive also been running piñata and just deserts in hopes to increase drop rate a bit more.

You can get legendaries from world enemies!

Obviously there'll be a way lower droprate to receive Legendaries from world enemies than lockboxes as you kill a lot more enemies than you open lockboxes.

One keycode probably accounts for 300 enemies. I've opened about 20 tier 3 lockboxes so far and found 2 legendaries. So that's 520 keys I've spent for 2 legendaries. That's roughly 156,000 enemies in value for 520 keys for 20 tier 3 lockboxes for 2 legendaries.

Rough numbers but you get the idea. The droprate for legendaries from world enemies will be very slim in comparison to lockboxes due to the reasons above!

No you can't and Sledge needs to retract that shtako immediately. I've logged over 300 hours in this game and I've never seen an enemy drop above blue. There is a reason their advertising says the rarest loot can only be gotten from lock boxes.

Yes you can. I've gotten epic quality items myself from world drops. There's many people in this thread claiming to have gotten legendary too, even Sledgehammer himself. We must just be unlucky.

Until someone can produce a screenshot of a purple or orange laying on the ground I'm gonna go with only trolls and idiots that weren't paying attention think they got their epics from anywhere but lock boxes and arkfalls and their legendaries from anywhere but lock boxes.

For pete's sake, a clan wide alert goes out whenever you get a legendary, usually with people chiming in asking about stats. Somebody somewhere would have heard about a clanmate getting one from an enemy through one of those conversations if it were possible.

This. Although you can also get purples from a quest reward or two. The one that immediately comes to mind is the episode mission assault rifle from Nolan.

To the folks claiming purples and oranges are mob drops I say,

Purples drop from Arkfalls here or there but oranges? I'm extremely skeptical about that.
