I think everyone is being too critical...

It seems like everyone wants this game to be complete RIGHT NOW. I'm not sure if that's really right. Trion is trying something awesome here, with a large magnitude cross media experience. Sure the core game is small, but it seems like it wasn't meant to be all encompassing. Regular updates as the show progresses should provide more story, and hopefully the show will survive long enough to add some good content.

It also seems like this is a good game to always come back to. Play another game, come back to Defiance for story updates and DLCs. I'd even be fine waiting until the season finale for a DLC if it was larger, and filled in some cool off season story or even set up the next season.

And if you take more breaks, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised at the amount of bugs that have been fixed(hopefully I'm not being TOO optimistic here) on your hiatus. Besides, all the pursuits and ark falls aren't going any where, they haven't been time sensitive or changed at all yet.

All I'm trying to say is take your time and enjoy the game, there's no need to rush to max Ego rating since there isn't a game changing benefit to it. It may be an MMO, but it's still a game. Have fun! However you do it.

(I do admit that multiplayer does need a bit of tweaking, but the variety of co-op, PvP, and open world provides a lot of options if you're willing to bunny hop out of your comfort zone, and into someone else's.)

People want it complete RIGHT NOW because it launched too early. You can't fight it.

So I have to stop playing a game that has routinely taken out more content than it's added, so I can enjoy the game more? brilliant logic. I should overlook the obvious design flaws that have been complained about since the alpha? I should ignore that Trion hyped up their transmedia experience and haven't delivered on it?
Here's a tip, don't tell people how to play or enjoy the game and if you don't like their complaints? use the ignore button.

Newsflash, even casual players are starting to realize that the amount of content in this game is not that impressive.
PVP needs more than a few tweaks, it needs a complete overhaul.
There is nothing competative about the pvp in this game, so when someone totes the pvp is end game, it makes me laugh.
Co-ops? what a joke. You can smash your face into your keyboard and still complete a co-op.
They require zero strategy, zero effort and have the appropriate rewards to reflect your effort.
Bugs be damned, but they aren't the biggest problem with this game.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

What does complete even mean? The new bioshock sold for 60 bucks too, and you can beat that game in one sitting. Complaining about a lack of content is utterly ridiculous.

It doesn't matter how big any dlc's are, or how many features trion pushes out that people have asked for, people are still going to get on this forum and ridicule trion every step of the way, because that's just how people are.

    Yep, no sense fighting it.

All I want to point out is that there's no reason to rush through the content, take your time and have a little faith in Trion. They may not be the most efficient coders at the moment, but they are working on it. Eventually the most problematic bugs will be gone (hopefully, again have some faith) and then they can try to realize the massive potential that the game has.

If the game bothers you that much in its current state, go play something else that you think is worth your time. Come back to Defiance later to see what's new and if your gripes get resolved. It won't cost you anything but time with this game model since there's no subscription, and I assume you have a little spare time since you not only play the game but spend time on the forums as well.

There is one thing that makes me kinda forgive all these issues and that is how this game is optimized, there is no lag at all and it uses CPU and GPU to its fullest compared to many other MMO's currently on market(Rift runs also smoothly as hell).

If nothing else atleast Trion knows how to make/use game engines properly.

I don't think people are being too critical, i think that most criticism is legitimate.
I mean; and this is just my opinion; but almost every part of this game screams "bare minimum", starting with character creation, character customization, graphic options, content, laughable UI (especially on PC), no replayability whatsoever, lack of the most basic features like chat (yes i know chat is available but it is so useless in its current form that it might as well not be there), mail, player bank, some form of trade broker etc... etc...
i could go on but you get the general idea.

People will try to tell you you're wrong. You're not, and I very much enjoy their attempts at telling you you're wrong.
