Just a suggestion but stop making " Hey I actually enjoy this game" threads on this forum since they have no place here. Its like because YOU are happy with a game and how its going YOU are automatically wrong for that. Let the flamers keep flaming, the reason there are not a lot of threads like this isnt because so little enjoy the game its because the ones that do are too busy doing just that, ENJOYING THE GAME! This place is for small devs and people that THINK they know what they are talking about to rant and rave, and yet I dont see any of their names in the credits of this game, or part of any of its design team. All im sayin is the game market and industry is allways looking for talent, go ahead and make a better product yourself. ....dont worry ill wait.

Getting what you paid for and what was promised are 2 different things, Bioshock although short, was marketed as a single player experience and was expected to be short. This game was marketed as a transmedia mmotps, and it falls short in a lot of areas. I don't have many problems with bugs, but the core gaming experience is just boring, and there's no real team effort. Everything can be done alone so no need to get a team together, and when you do get a group, you DESTRORY everything so fast there's no challenge. So yeah 8hr bioshock is worth 60bucks and 50hr defiance isn't because I didn't get what i paid for........

Sure the core game is small, but it seems like it wasn't meant to be all encompassing. Regular updates as the show progresses should provide more story, and hopefully the show will survive long enough to add some good content.

It also seems like this is a good game to always come back to. Play another game, come back to Defiance for story updates and DLCs. I'd even be fine waiting until the season finale for a DLC if it was larger, and filled in some cool off season story or even set up the next season.

And if you take more breaks, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised at the amount of bugs that have been fixed(hopefully I'm not being TOO optimistic here) on your hiatus. Besides, all the pursuits and ark falls aren't going any where, they haven't been time sensitive or changed at all yet.

All I'm trying to say is take your time and enjoy the game, there's no need to rush to max Ego rating since there isn't a game changing benefit to it. It may be an MMO, but it's still a game. Have fun! However you do it.

(I do admit that multiplayer does need a bit of tweaking, but the variety of co-op, PvP, and open world provides a lot of options if you're willing to bunny hop out of your comfort zone, and into someone else's.)
None of that means anything when the game is so full of bugs and glitches.

The bugs and glitches, while annoying, are the least of this games problems.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

I'm not going to say you're wrong, nor do I insist upon my opinion. In fact, I think the same thing. 60 bucks is entirely worth a finished product based on a large majority of games out there right now.

I'm just tired of every other post being a rage about all the problems, and so few coherent posts expressing a disappointed opinion. It's hard enough to be on the developer's end, especially if they didn't meet their own goals in the 'finished' product.

I look forward to what this game CAN be in the long run. It is tough to enjoy it without getting a little annoyed now, absolutely. But I hope Trion sticks with it long enough to make something cool into something awesome.

    1. I play the game and I want it to get better.
    2. So if i have a problem with the game and i want to talk about it, i go to the forums, the mods read it and it translate into meaningful changes. Basically you could say I'm doing more to make the game better than say, some condescending jerk who acts like this is the best thing since sliced bread.
    3. Trion will fix this game I have no doubt of that, but if it takes 6months to get right, we won't have the population needed to keep this thing alive.
    4. Just because I can't design games doesn't mean I can't say if something isn't fun to play.

Eventually the most problematic bugs will be gone (hopefully, again have some faith) and then they can try to realize the massive potential that the game has.

If the game bothers you that much in its current state, go play something else that you think is worth your time. Come back to Defiance later to see what's new and if your gripes get resolved. It won't cost you anything but time with this game model since there's no subscription, and I assume you have a little spare time since you not only play the game but spend time on the forums as well.
I actually did not "rush" through the content, I played this game alot slower then most offline games and still blew through the content, which would have been fine if there was any reward for it or gratification, alas there was not. Really tired of hearing this rushing excuse...

Now THAT I can co-sign, I expect this game to be a beast, but we can't expect others to hang tight while trion fixes things. With a new console cycle on the horizon, and a lot of other games coming out, I'm critical so that trion can here our voice and get the most important(most important to the players i mean) things fixed first and fast. Trust me I like this game, I don't want to go back to another Call of Duty: the quest for more money type of game.

Hey now, you got a purple handgun that blows through ammo faster than a SMG or Assault rifle, does less damage and has a much lower ammo pool. What could be more rewarding than that? none of the mission rewards really made any sense except for the prelude mission with Nolan, getting his gun made perfect sense since he gave it to you and used it as a distraction. The rest? not so much. The only mission reward even worth a damn was the burst mod, heh.

Here's a tip, don't tell people how to play or enjoy the game and if you don't like their complaints? use the ignore button.

Newsflash, even casual players are starting to realize that the amount of content in this game is not that impressive.
PVP needs more than a few tweaks, it needs a complete overhaul.
There is nothing competative about the pvp in this game, so when someone totes the pvp is end game, it makes me laugh.
Co-ops? what a joke. You can smash your face into your keyboard and still complete a co-op.
They require zero strategy, zero effort and have the appropriate rewards to reflect your effort.
Bugs be damned, but they aren't the biggest problem with this game.
Powerful freakin post. Also, I'm shocked that people constantly bring up Bioshock in an attempt to justify Defiance's price tag. You would they they would be smart enough to not use one of the most critically acclaimed games this gen, to justify the shortcoming of a title that has been associated with nothing but mediocrity since release.
