I don't believe Rift was a failure but was it "WoW" level? Well no but does that mean it failed? I don't think so. Sure they had to merge servers but that was going to happen. I still enjoy Rift and go back to it from time to time.

Unfortunately everyone is going to consider every single MMO from now on a failure unless it hits WoW levels. Hate to break it to everyone but that is never going to happen again, not even WoW will ever hit WoW levels again. People seem to be getting sick of the MMO model as presented in WoW, and even if they aren't they have way too much invested into characters in one game to run off and try something new.

Rift is doing fine and I would hardly call it coming even close to failing.

Being as a bought this game, in a large part, due to my enjoyment of Rift and the skills they developed there...well, I get so distracted by that point of disagreement it's hard to decide if I agree about anything else.

More than likely it is what I said earlier. Some people think that if an MMO doesn't beat WoW that somehow means it failed...

I think what he meant to say is that it was very much a wow clone in ways. And alot different in others. But he didnt like it.
