    Why build reputation???

I understand that you can buy weapons and stuff that is specific to that vendor, but why would I save my reputation and keep building it up? So far I only see guns that are 200faction and so much scrip. So why would I want to save my reputation and keep leveling up my status with that vendor?? Right now I have 305 reputation points for VBI. The next level is 600....my question is ....what benefits am I getting by saving my reputation and leveling up my status? Will I open up new weapons for that vendor that I only get by leveling up my status? I don't get it. I reached level 300 which made my status as "reliable", but nothing changed or was added. IT seems like a ripoff that I spent all that time building my reputation and got nothing more for it. I could have just bought a weapon and spend my reputation....so why save reputation and build status???

I was wondering this too. If you buy a 200 rep weapon do you lose 200 from your rep?

Aside from getting 1000 rep points for the title, or following the pursuits to become "trusted" among all the factions, I can't give a decent reason to continue building rep points unless you are specifically using them for the purchaseable mod cache per vendor.

Regarding purchasing items from faction vendors, your level does not decrease when you buy an item from what I understand of it. Say you buy an AR from VBI for 200 rep points. You do spend the 200 rep points but your STANDING with the VBI faction does not decrease 200 points. So if you were at 300 points with VBI and let's stay that made you "reliable" and then you bought the AR for 200 rep points, you now have only 100 rep points remaining but you should still be listed as "reliable" in regards to faction standing or reputation (then again I could be completely wrong and it isn't the first time haha). Hope that made sense and helps.

Thanks Strahd....my question though is will the bar I'm filling up to get to 600 decrease when I buy a weapon?? Right now, it says I have 305/600. If I buy something for 200, will that bar now say 105/600?

Personally, I don't think it will decrease as that is a representation of your standing with the faction. Unless I am gravely mistaken, your standing and faction "credits" or "money" are separate. Each contract you complete increases your standing and gives "x" amount of faction credits. IF however, you make the purchase and it DOES decrease your standing, then I'd submit a ticket as this is yet another bug/flaw that should be looked at by the devs.

Okay thanks...I will try it and see. One more question.....why should I care about buying the 1000 reputation/1101 scrip "title" at the vendors?? Is that the only reason to save that much reputation money? They really need to add more things to buy from specific vendors when you level up your status with that vendor. I'd like to see better and better guns unlock as you level status.

Aside from the pursuits/mods/titles/weapons...I couldn't tell you. I can tell you I've not seen a weapon sold by any of the faction vendors that I have wanted to purchase. Later on down the line though the faction vendors may get updated/upgraded items after the first DLC goes live or something. In the end though it's entirely up to you.

Yea weapons to me aren't all that great. And the synergy mod boxes aren't any better. Every mod I have got there isn't a weapon to match it in the store and they can't be traded. So I agree gather em for the pursuit and just let em build up and hope like hell items change soon for the better

If you buy a weapon for 200 rep, your overall rep will reduce. It did happen to me. First, max out your reps, and get the "Widely Regarded" silver trophy, then spend your heart out.

someone on the gamefaqs said there was a way to trade the mods from those boxes:

    1. buy cheap weapon
    2. place mods on it
    3. trade weapon
    4. destroy weapon / recover mods

    haven't tried it myself tho.

as far as the weapons goes. the epic LMG from Top-Notch is pretty nasty, I'm just holding out for a better Element to spawn on it, at 1500 Ego its still stuck on Bio / Slow and I'd prefer just about anything to that.
