It just seemed to me that aiming was really difficult (it might have been a scene where players where using controllers and not mouse/keyboard though...) because most of the targeted enemies where quite tiny and that shotguns and heavy weapons just didn't have the necessary damage output to make up for close range and low firing rate.

What's your opinion on the matter? Do you think scoped will be the way to go too?

Maybe or maybe not, correct me if I am wrong but I don't think they have given out all the details surrounding the mods for weapons. Scopes on a weapon might bring better distance accuracy, but there might be a mod that helps with regular shooting. With the possibilities of different mods out there, there is a good chance that adding scopes to certain weapons might not be needed. This is all speculation so please to quote me on this later

As I understand it, the more you use a weapon, the more affinity you gain with out, ie, you become more skilled. Faster reload, less "wander" with recoil, slightly more damage, etc. And the mods you place on the weapon could affect those areas as well.

That being said, a good sniper is invaluable, but also needs a good team to really shine.

Curiosity for that comes to this.
Render distance? And hitting a target outside it?
Camouflage? Terrain, flora aka bushes and tall grass? trees.
    Standing, kneeling, lying?
    Rifles and range efficiency?
    Mines and traps?
    weapons swapping?
    Radar, sensors?

A good sniper knows when to move and when to stay. given what we can use as them in the game if there is going to be an "open" world. There will be snipers that rule and snipers that die to our laughter as we rip their throats out with a dull knife. So when we know how much our characters can integrate and use the world it self and not just the items in it. We will know

Yeah i love hit n run tactics. I prefer when it hits hard. Ark huntin?? pfft player hunter is my new name >:3 (jk jk) but there is a risk of that people showing up

Yes the "perks" menu has options for sniper rifles, crouching etc. Faster ROF and faster reload times, I haven't seen any sniper rifles yet that are not bolt action. Some mobs do take more than 1 shot to kill even if doing head shots, usually the bigger enemies and elites.

From what I understood from the video I've seen is that the abilities like cloaking aren't tied to specific weaponary. So you could have a cloaked Shotty, Smg, AR user etc etc. If thats the case then im definitely rolling Cloak with an AR. In my experiences with BF3 and large scale battles, SMGs just don't cut the mustard. Plus I've always been a bit obsessed with cloaking since Halo Reach and Ghost Recon Future Soldier.

So you have one non-sniper here.
