Not necessarily, one example of having grenades and nano effects make a influence can the flashbang/electric nano effect. Since 99ers in the motherlode are cyborgs, the hardmode boss fight could have adds that are more easily dealt with when using flashbang /electric as opposed to the others effects. I would then make it a pursuit or give bonus keys/xp/scrip/salvage to beat the fight without electric effects.
Another way to make things different is have fight where you have the option to heal/ revive npcs to make which can help out in the fight, to make use of the bmg and revive perks. But the fight will be still be doable, though a little harder if you don't interact with the npcs.
Lol I already have to carry my team now you want tanks/healers.... Hahahahha yea let's just change this game totally also let's change the name while we are at it.
Dear Optimist, Pessimist and Realist,
While you guys were busy
arguing about the glass of water,
I drank it!

Let's keep banal and dated RPG tropes such as tanks and healers out of this shooter. In shooters everyone is a combatant (DPSer) first and foremost. The other roles are secondary.
Challenge and complexity should be derived from AI, not RPG gimmicks carried over from board games. Shooters rely on reaction and movement. If that's taken away this game's combat will suffer greatly.
I think that is the main reason the holy trinity was brought up, exactly for that reason. As it stands now there is no need for tactics or communication in the slightest. Pew pew till dead, repeat.
Now i could be biased here because i still love the holy trinity and have done for many years, im a tank at heart so for me it would be a welcome change, i can see how for others it wouldn't though.

the fact that the roles are set in the trinity shows that there really isn't any deep tactics. One person heals the main guy, dps beats it down, while the main guy draws the aggression from the other two and takes the bulk of the hits. That's pretty much only one tactic :P
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.
Its arguable if what you are describing can be considered tactics. Anything on-the-fly I'd argue isn't tactical as its a heat of the moment response...or largely non tactical at any rate. The same as relying on reaction time and quickness thats just twitch not tactics.
Tactics are going to be a recipe inasmuch as a recipe is a plan. It doesn't have to be tank healer dps but reacting with no plan isn't tactical.
