I would be more impressed if you got half the kills with an AR, smg or assault rifle etc. any other combo then shootgun/cloak or immunizer.
I have played that combo alot and no i dont think its any special to end up #1 3/3 games, done it many times, easy to get 15-20 kills with that setup, i stoped using it coz it was boring and to easy to play, so no, to go up nehind someone invisable and one shoot them, takes no skills, and i dont get how so many can fail with that setup, they are prob pure **** at shootergames at all. and no my english is not that good, but good enough since you get what im saying![]()

I suppose the real argument here would be whether it is that Shotgun/Cloak is overpowered or Shotgun coupled with any other EGO power is overpowered. I am a shotgun/cloak user but I have looked into it enough to come to the conclusion that it is not shotgun usage that is "easy gameplay/noob setup/cheap tactics" it is the fact that shotgun coupled with any of the 4 available EGO powers can be devastating. The shotgun is currently one of the most powerful guns in it's effective range. However there are downsides to using a shotgun. Range, magazine capacity, and rate of fire are some that I can think of off the top of my head. The reason why everyone is screaming that shotgun is overpowered is because it is so powerful with the use of an EGO power. The largest downside to a sawed off or pump shotgun is the reduced range and fall off damage.
Blur: Probably the 2nd most powerful EGO power with the ability to quickly close the gap and put you into the effective range with a shotgun makes this ability very useful.
Cloak: The current strongest EGO power where you are able to sneak up on an enemy player and get into the effective range provides much easier kills.
Decoy: Tied with Overcharge this EGO power with the fact you are able to bait the enemy into giving away their location and possibly face the opposite way of you allows you extra time to get into effective range.
Overcharge: Tied with Decoy this EGO power lowers the kill time with a shotgun in effective range by almost half. Also with the fact that it increases damage, it somewhat effectively extends the effective range of the shotgun by making the fall off damage increase.
So really the complaint shouldn't be about shotguns but how using EGO powers with a shotgun makes it that much more powerful. There are currently only 2 TDM maps that are both more close quarters combat oriented. For someone to use anything but a close quarters combat weapon pretty much eliminates the effectiveness of their gun in the majority of encounters you will come across in a match. Would you be satisfied if it was 8 on 8, snipers only, on Observatory where everyone was posted and just strafed back and forth till someone got a headshot?
tl;dr don't hate the player, hate the game.
There are definitely differences in skill level with the combo. My problem is that the majority of the flame or learn 2 play comments go something like, "you just need to experiment more with perks and weapons until you find what works best for you and find your own OP build." And the combination that seems to come up as the most OP build for players that are atleast half decent is cloak shotty and/or immunizer. Nothing else is anywhere near as prolific.
For instance most shooters close quarter combat and shotguns is not my forte, usually better at sniping and other more finesse style play than aggressive twitch styles like shotguns. But in defiance rolling with a shotgun is far and above the best way for me to score easy kills and practically guarantees me mvp. You can claim its the current maps, except the pattern plays out in shadow wars and freight yard when its been up. So either I suddenly became a pretty darn good CQC twitch player or something is very different/wrong with defiance pvp.

I totally agree with you on this post, the way they have set up the mapsinvites ppl to use shootgun more and since the map are made for close range combat the shootgun will dominate the game and with cloak or blur as active power you will dominate the game if your not a total noob ofc BUT combine shootgun with overcharge or decoy and the smg, assault rifle users etc. will have more chance to kill of the shootguners due to the fact that you cant close in on your target as fast to finnish them of if they dont just camp in close spaces waiting for enemies to show up.
Due to this you dont see as many shootgun/cloak users in shadow wars and the once who use it are thoose who are to bad with any other weapon, to much open terrain to get more then one kill/power use
