I gave up with T3 boxes and went back to T4.
During this bonus weekend, I got at least one orange per T4 box. Might be the luck of the draw
No oranges, but I got a lot of greensand a few blues fighting dark matter. Beat nim Sunday. I got a purple pistol from beating him

getting purple and orange drops in this game is almost impossible, i am lvl 2600+ never seen a drop of them colours, i have maybe 12 legendary from tier 4 boxes, but it is always weapons. i am still waiting for grenades and shied legendary.
i do not want to buy them from others players, but for the pursuit i may have to eventually.
I agree that receiving items correctly is bugged.
loot weekend was waste of time btw, usually from a hulker i would get blue, but i started getting green.

Due to work I only had a few hours to spare. In that time I got enough keys for one tier 3 - not even a 4! Got an orange assault rifle with it though, so I was happy.
Spent greens on a synergy, nothing special.
I will have to say that it seemed to work better than that "loot boost" they offer on the store. When I had that I almost literally got nothing but white shields and nades, to the point where I quit picking stuff up because I was tired of spending most of my time navigating the clunky menu for salvaging items. This time I actually saw greens & blues (granted most of them sucked, but I saw them)
110% of miniscule is still miniscule.
No oranges here after probably 12 hours of total gameplay over the weekend. Here is the thing though...orange weapons are FAR from "legendary". I have a bunch of "legendary" weapons and they are all awful and easily outdone by a few greens here and there. Striving to get an orange weapon will usually only lead to disappointment, IMO. Which is kind of a larger issue all together. If Trion really wants to make them meaningful they should create special weapons for legendary status and not just slap an orange color on a green weapon.
I have finished the main missions and replayed them fully once now and only have 1 orange. I played for a few hours each day of the weekend and didn't see anything higher than a green as well. I guess some people are just lucky. The one orange I have is a rocket launcher that I don't really even want. Hopefully I find an assault rifle someday.
I got 99% of the time white - so I really got screwed.
