Song I made.

So, I've been making music for about 6 months or so now, and finally starting to feel comfortable with making them more public. Anyways, I just finished up a track today and would love some constructive criticism on it. I've got a pretty small friend group and it's hard to get a real critique out of most of them. It's kind of a dark-ambient feel to it, don't really know what genre to call it.

Edit #3: I was worried there was a bit of clipping that I wasn't catching. Found some other speakers to play it over and it was a bit more prominent. The running version I have in FL Studio is no longer clipping. I'm going to wait to see if there are any more changes I make from criticism in this thread and real life before uploading another updated version seeing as how I JUST re-posted it -_- (Irate with myself on that one.). You... are.. really good at this, I like the song and the unique name of the song because it fits with the setting.

You should be more public with it, I like it.

my drivers from my spears are not curently working propley il sort them tomorow and give you some feel back (im and ex 2nd cellist i play a little piano but i mostly play guitar both electric and acoustic, also when i was in 6th form i helped run the schools recording studio and operated the sound board when ever i wasnt performing. i acted a bit too)

I would be extremely grateful of that. I've got only one person in my life who has any real background with music, and it's pretty hard to get a hold of him.

VolDeVie tbh its nice but to me and that s personall i cant find the dark side off it.

If the bells are the driving melodic (dark sounds) then they are to high notewise.
They have a leading role but dont give me the feeling a for example old musicboxsound would give.
(again to high and flat in that perspective/in that way they create a distance between themselfs and the rest
off the sounds wich have more of a layer feeling)

At 1:20 in the back (far in th back) i can hear some dark nice sound but for me its to far away.

All in all i think you build a nice piece but and i assume you are using vst s for this i would recommend some
higher (and i know they aint cheap) vsts as some give a much more full sound.That in the end gives a broader basis and cleans up the empty spaces.

Let me again say that all the above is a personall view.

Working towards getting some better vsts, they're definitely expensive on a server's wage. As far as how dark it sounds, there's a lot of opinion on that. I'm a firm believer that having written the song that I wont hear it how everyone else does. I find it a bit hard describing my songs in the first place, but I can definitely see how people can see it being a much brighter song. I may play around with dropping the octave of some or all of the notes just to see how it sounds. Thanks much for the constructive criticism man.

@HammerStrike, I doubt I'll ever consider myself brilliant even if I do reach that point. I'm more critical of my songs than anyone else, but I think that's what's needed to get better and really do something with this. Thanks for the listen.

Lol, never heard that song before. The chorus sounds a lot like Mika! Definitely a fun song, gotta check out more songs by them.
