that achieves almost no improvement in the end

You don't need a bank to do this, they can tweak the inventory management screen to accomplish the same end goal.
Other lobby shooters are free to play. Defiance bussiness model is all about selling you DLC so while technically free to play its really a $10 subscription whenever they release new content unless you want to be frozen out of all the new toys races gear etc they release. Its one the least "f2p" f2p game I have yet seen. And if you believe the dlc loot isn't going to be better then the current loot your fooling yourself. If it's not better nobody would be buying it. Even Planetside has gear progression everytime they release a new gun that is better then previous versions and expect you to fork over cash to remain competetive. They allso have the resource system which heavily punishes anyone not a premium member and running a boost with long waits between vehicle spawns.

An ah actually would achieve a great deal of improvement in that we don't have to waste time sifting through forum posts and setting up trades. Same result just alot less pointless work on the part of buyer/seller. Quality of life improvement.

They could tweak the inventory system and jump through hoops to get around putting a bank in or they can save alot of dev time and just go ahead and add it since it's a better solution anyway.

And that is exactly why the other guy said thoose who refuse to take part in the economy of an mmo may be playing the wrong game. If they want to deliberately handicap themselves for some odd reason that's there perogative but it makes no sense to base design decisions on someones irrational refusal to use it. Not to mention there's allways the trade forum and allso the fact they can get plenty of script from the world without ever touching an ah.

To further my point it would be like removing LMGS because a segment of players didn't want to use them and they happened to some of the better weapons.

No ones forcing anyone to do anything. The option would be nice for those of us who would like to use it though.
If you disagree with anything in the above post, you are wrong.

Sure, it would be a nice option, I never said it wouldn't, BUT, it serves no real purpose in this game. There is very little benefit, and the cons far outweigh any benefits.
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.

Are you suggesting that people will use bits to buy lockboxes to sell for scrip? Nobody would do that. Anyone who is selling in the AH does so because they like to make money, and they're certainly not going to spend real money to earn fake money. If anything, people would be more inclined to buy scrip from farmers for real $ instead of taking the chance of real money for a lockbox with nothing to sell.

Nobody interacts at an auction house, they walk up to the automated vendor, buy or sell, and walk away.
What planet I live on Nobody do that, nobody interacts. Well it seems you know everything already so further discussion is a waste of time.

    Still I would waste some

My mistake, Orange you can get only from lock boxes. This is true.

Still there are many poeple that would buy lock boxes to get orange, and If that orange is not suitable they would exchange it for script, to buy another thing in Auction House. That's what it is for. Do you agree?

And that's how trading works. Trion earns money, players gets bits, other player gets product. Trade is a money.

Also you could see on other MMO how to young player ask elder player how he got his level, armor or even spam like lend me some money. Also stupid emotes, teamup, area chat, all this in Auction House.
The art of war is simple enough. Find out where your enemy is. Get at him as soon as you can. Strike him as hard as you can, and keep moving on.

You keep saying it's pointless yet we have all told you it serves the purpose of facilitating faster trade and preventing a lot of wasted time in the trade forums. It allso gives us an outlet for good loot that we don't actually need for our builds since it's not like we have a bank to put the stuff in while we wait for somebody to happen by who needs it. You say it has alot of CONS but I'm not seeing any.

I think the point he is trying to make is that coiners will buy bits to gain a valuable orange from lockboxes or multiple good epics or mediocre oranges so they can sell them on the ah for the legendary they actually want for there build. Rather then decrease bit putchases it will actually improve them as players can now have an expectation of return through the ah even if they don't get the specific item they hoped for they will likely get enough salable items to get what they did want. Right now the odds of a coiner getting the item they really want are minute and after a few attempts they would give up buying bits. But if they could sell what they did find for scrip they would be gaining a benefit and more likely to continue doing it.

It's B2P, not F2P. We haven't seen ANY DLC yet, so making any speculations as to the actual content is very premature.

Yes, but again, setting up those trades is relatively pointless. You aren't getting very much further ahead by wasting your time in the trading forums. You'd likely be better off farming keys, unless you're one of the people exploiting new players who still feel that an orange weapon is infinitely better than a blue or a green

It wouldn't be jumping through hoops at all, it would be one additional column on the inventory screen to flag an item as trash, or locked, to prevent accidental selling. A bank would require creating a new interface graphic, the actions to go along with it, and likely a new database to handle bank storage in addition to the player storage limits. Changing the inventory screen is only cosmetic, requires little to no effort in terms of development as you aren't changing any of the core inventory mechanics and inventory size limits. This also preserves the integrity of inventory upgrade purchases.

It has no cons. What cons would a bank have? What cons could an auction house possibly have? And don't say "Wah it'll destroy the economy" What economy exactly? If anything it'll increase the value of scrip which everyone wants.

Or an alternative could be player stores. So when you inspect a player you can see what they're selling and then buy it off them or broker a trade.

What cons can a mail system possibly even have too? Like seriously Ironhands it just sounds like you're afraid of change.

I can see it now. They introduce an auction house which requires bits to post an item, and a bit premium for the buyer...

Yes, but people will likely not take the chance. If I see something in the auction house, I will just work to get the scrip for it, and not risk getting something that will not sell in the AH because it is too common. Trion would not get as much money, because people would no longer want to buy bits for lockboxes, if any still do right now anyway.

What you're describing is a common area, not necessarily an AH. Any place could be made for that purpose.

Nobody buys lockboxes with bits anymore, atleast the majority don't. If anything lockboxes will become more valuable, along with loot chance boosts as people will be able to buy them from the bit store and sell the rare items on the AH for scrip.
