Can Defiance survive on current gen consoles?

I recently read that Defiance has a season 2 coming next year, also season 2 is supposed to have more game crossover potential, however realistically does defiance even stand a chance on ps3/360 for next year?

I personally don't think the game (console version) can survive without doing a 720/Ps4 remake.

    What's your guy's opinions?

I'll probably hold on to my 360 until the Infinity is well established, like a year in. I've never and will never purchase a console on release, they're always boring as hell on launch and just downright unstable until devs learn to code for them.

But who knows. The season pass will expire before then anyway. If I'm still interested in Defiance the game when season 2 hits then I'll gladly continue to play, be it on PC or 360.

I plan to play as well, but even if the game goes F2P by next year, I really doubt there will be enough players active to make the game stay playable.

We'll just have to wait and see how popular the game is by the end of season one, and hear what Trions plans for it are. A bit early to decide whether we'll still be playing in a years time.

I'll more than likely be getting the PS4 day one as i have done with all the Playstations but to be honest that's a long way off yet. I'd be more worried about the player base sticking around before next gen is released, i'm the only one of my friends still/barely playing as it is. As much as i want this game to keep me hooked i can't see me playing by the time next gen is released unfortunately. As for others only time will tell.

Edit: Plus ill more than likely be playing the hell out of Destiny.

i would agree, it would behoove them to port the game to the new consoles when they come out.

they might not depending on how much it costs to port the current engine to the new consoles.

of course if they use a 3rd party engine, it would depend on if the company that created/maintains that engine ports it over. that would possibly really help with the cost trion would have to absorb.

but then there is another consideration.

due to how low-end the next gen consoles are going to be hardware spec wise, is it even worth it to try?

honestly im not sure why anyone is still making games for the current consoles. i am not sure why anyone really has for the past few years other than the technological specs of even the current consoles make it extremely cheap because your engines cannot have ANY advanced options.

Have you watched any videos/screenshots of "The last of us" or "Beyond: Two Souls" ? Both of those examples look stunning on the PS3, saying you don't know why developers bother to make games for the current consoles, well there should be the answer.

The beutiful thing about any mmo is that it can add things on as it goes plus lookat ps2 they were still number one in sales for games for the first 2 years after 360 and ps3 both 360 and ps3 still have a good 2 years to go there will be new games made on both systems for atleast that long . Sony and micro. need to sell a ton of next gen. systems before they stop this gen games that is only way they can afford the next gen launch

I don't know how anybody plays ANY console games, the graphics suck compared to a good PC. Of course, a good PC costs a lot more though.

yes, when graphical technology is limited to basically 10 year old limits, it is pretty amazing what they can do with it.

just look at the Lord of the Rings trilogy. you know they used 10 year old hardware clusters for post-proccessing for those special effects? you know that by the end of the series of stargate - SG 1 and the reboot of battlestar galactica they were using clustered hardware of 10+ years old?

just think, those games look like that on old PC technology.

the "new" next gen consoles are going to be using 5+ year old PC technology.

just think what those games would look on modern day technology, not even cutting edge, just modern.

you do know that PC graphics are getting closer and closer all the time to photo-realistic graphics? it is thought that within 5-6 years ( 2018-2019 ) cutting edge graphics on the PC will be able to render real-time photo-realistic, and another 2-3 years after that for consumer level?

of course given current trends, by the time PC can do real-time photo-realistic, consoles will be 10 years behind?

thats right, by 2020 the consoles are expected to be using todays ( 2013 ) hardware technology.

sony learned their lesson, dont put in quality hardware and charge "outrageous" prices for a console to be competitive, all it will do is lose you money.

all consoles do is hold back technology. like it or not, it is fact.
