I still can't figure out why the devs let scope specs slide like that....

I've got 2 scopes in inventory.
    #1: + .20 accuracy
    #2: - .20 accuracy

    Seriously, wtf?

Don't they ever actually read the code they're writing, before they put it into the working copy?

I love the game, generally awesome work. But, still, ..... really...

For all the other gun stats, the higher number is better. So at some point someone was coming up with stats for mods, and wrongly assumed that a "bonus" is a good thing on scopes.

Sounds like another case of Trion tested; patch required.

Seems fairly simple to me: lack of quality control, lack of testing, and failure to play their own game.

They need to implement paired programming and code reviews... not all bugs are found by testers. I mean it took me a little time to figure out the bonuses or mods on the Snipers were making them crap because I was trying to do headshots and some snipers were just working much worse than others.

Testers in some cases only look for and report a bug where something crashes (or give general feedback about game without figuring out the case of the bug)... in this case they would have to be paying attention to the game and realize that something logical is wrong when they are trying to use a Sniper after having modded it (or using a Sniper that has a accuracy fail bonus).

I couldn't agree more. I've been a programmer since the late 1970s (yes, true story). My code is safety critical so its scrutinized to a much higher degree, but any self-respecting software engineer makes sure their stuff works properly before its put into the hands of the public. Anything less is simply unprofessional.

This is actually a result of them slowly patching a fix for the scopes via server side updates. They're switching the tool tips of the weapons/mods to show the correct information before the actual fix can be implemented in 1.020. This was done in 1.013. It's the most they can do via their end without requiring us to download something. Patience people.

I understand patience, but I dint know that.
I don't know whether I failed to read a memo, or they failed to write it.

Knowing what they plan to fix would be nice, instead of thinking they wont bother to address something.

All of the above is typed calmly, with respect for Omni, and in truth for the devs. They just keep leaving us thinking they aren't on top of stuff by being secretive about whether they even acknowledge issues....

Milk-n-cookies at Sledge's place when this is all sorted out.....
