Anyone else find it funny the show is named after a place we'll never visit?

I mean, Defiance is a town in the universe of this series. The game is named after it. The show takes place in it.

But the game will never interact with Defiance. Despite it's name.

It'd be like calling a game "New York: Ground Zero" and having the game take place in Greece. Kinda just something funny I thought of.

It's kinda a good thing though...the town, Defiance...based off the TV show is one boring town.

Not exactly. The Town was named after 'The Battle of Defiance' which took place at Fort Defiance in San Francisco.

Its covered in game, and Nolan even makes a joke in the first episode of the show about how everything is named after that battle.

Defiance is the name of the town named after a battle in San Francisco, that took place at Fort Defiance which I'm sure we'll get to visit.

Some of us have already been there.

Everything's named after that battle :P

Has it been implicitly stated that we'll never get to St. Louis? I'm wondering if we actually might end up there at some point, with the whole mag-lev train they've brought up a few times in the show. Perhaps we're only not meant to be in the town right now. If/when the show has run its course, why not resume/resolve some of the plot threads in the game instead?

But really, having the two separate for now works. Each has room to grow, and you're not forced to participate in both the tv show and the game to enjoy the stories. If it were tied too closely, or took place in the town, it might become a little confusing, depending on how it's handled. That, and St. Louis seems packed with people, might be really hard to handle so many NPCs on the console side of things :P
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.

nah. I do find it strange that everyone just kind of up and went, "Y'know, f*** St. Louis. We're going to randomly change the name of a 300+ yr old city to something bland and generic."

I think Defiance is a perfect name for the town. The whole city got terraformed over, and the Arch is still standing there like a defiant middle finger.

Once the maglev is finished in season 2 maybe we get to ride it to Defiance, even if its just part of a coop mission or PvP zone.

Maybe people, after such a global catastrophe, decided that religious names weren't a great idea? Or maybe it had to do with the multiple other races w/ their own religions? I dunno. I get where the name came from, just no clue what the reason would truly be for it not continuing to be St. Louis...

Hopefully my suggestions aren't too far fetched...
