    Where to get better weapons

Sorry if this topic is a reposted one, I tried looking for another.

So far I can't seem to find a weapon that is actually better than one I got towards the beginning of the game. Where can you recommend looking for better weapons? Are the faction ones the only reliable way? I have yet to get anything great from an arkfall. I guess acquiring new weapons is just not as simple or varied as other comparative games such as Borderlands.

Also, am I mistaken about weapon entirely, and is the key to a better weapon the Perks + Upgrades of your character? So someone who is built to up damage and pistol whip your butt is better than you due to perks? How much does the actual build of your character impact weapon performance?

Thanks, I think I get the over aspects, I just wanted to get your opinions on how much these different things impact an overall character. Obviously skill is in here too, but you either have that or don't, you can't loot skill :P

ditch that weapon ..u will never get higher in weapon level if u keep using the same gun and its at max level. ur build can be a big part of the weapon ..u have perks for hipfires etc...

You can find some decent weapons in special vendors.
And you can find some weapons from lockboxes too.
And rarity is not important, i found one orange weapon which is terrible

as far as the weapons go, its best to find a type you like, and then buy decent variants on that type to level the overall skill.

once you max the skill (level 20) then you can just pick one you like and use it forever.

Me I leveled LMG's first, but I'm finding I actually prefer a semi-or full Auto AR overall. with a grenade launcher or missle launcher for backup for those annoying raiders that hide behind plates of armor.

Its a pain to keep leveling up a rifle and trade it in, but you figure out what mods work with your play style. I'm more of an assault rifle and sniper rifle type of character. Use the AR with overcharge and it helps make quick work and swiss cheese out of monarchs.

Shop around, look at all the stores as often as you want to, but if you leveling up, you best sticking with green/blue as they cheapest way to get the weapon skills up. Lockboxes are good if you want a random upgrade. I seem to get more green out of them these days.

I started on AR and got it to 9 before working out I preferred LMG (SAW is much better in arkfalls) ... I am all over the place, working on 2 combat pursuits at the same time... finally returned to AR this week to get 5k kills done. I prefer something with more punch so its why i use SAW/Pump action if I have a real fight on my hands.

Agreed somewhat about the color of weapons as i currently have Green and purple (purple being rare) and my Green weapons are far better. It also depends on your mods you have attached. Myself i have received good weapons from roadside emergencies and some good grenades from Arkfalls. To be truthful i have yet to find any weapon worth keeping from a loxbox, vendor specials are usually pretty good as well. If you ever come across a Wolfhound Pistol, mod it and keep it as it gives very high hit points especially at Arkfalls

there is one gun that turns monarchs into a pile off bug goo, a gRound pounder with a plus 6 mag bonus, and a plus 3 mag mod on it for a total of 12 grenades in the clip!!! Talk about a fire works show
