Massive Layoffs At Trion Today? Defiance Affected?

Oh that's absolutely true, game companies do do (I said do do) layoffs after a release, and actually frequently once a game goes free to play, and its possible that's all this is combined with as you said, someone being laid off talking out of school. The panic isn't really justified right now until more concrete information comes along.

I wouldn't say panic is the right word for it. It is unexpected, though, after Trion was proud of not downsizing their team during the launch of Rift.

This is just a possibility I thought to post due to some people referencing Rift's F2P status with the layoffs.

There is a belief that the layoffs could have been because of Rift going F2P.
I see it as likely Rift going F2P alongside the layoffs due to financial issues. (this would also explain why it was so sudden).

Nope. Rift's free to play decision was made nearly a year ago and was being worked on for about the same amount of time. Rift had literally nothing to do with Defiance.

Is only IGN posting this, or is there another site? IGN has been known to lie a lot when it comes to facts.
