Rift was not affected by the layoffs.

The in-between the lines read seem to indicate it was very targeted at the Defiance team.

But you're right, they did make a lot of sales, they didn't hold on to many of the players though, and that's mostly due to the bugs forcing the DLC delay. People got bored without that DLC pack showing up the same day as the show. It's the first DLC that will really seal the fate of this game, more than anything else. If it's good, people will likely return, if not, oh well, that's the state of the industry. People don't seem to have the attention span to stick with any game for more than a little while any more. How many MMOs have really been a hit since Rift, which was really the last of the traditional sub based MMOs as far as I'm concerned. Look how fast TSW and SWTOR switched models - which was likely planned. Hell, Amalur didn't even make it to release, and most of the beta or recent F2P are all pretty boring, even ESO doesn't look that great IMO.

MMOs are over, unless someone can come up with something very revolutionary.
Your Challenger won't drive? You're probably in the passenger seat.
Can't sell/delete an item? Check all of your loadouts, it's likely still equipped.
Auction house? Why? It'll just render bits purchased lock boxes pointless, and weapons are mostly equal anyway.
Gear/enemy progression? No thanks, it'll only render 90% of the content trivial when you reach the highest zone.

That depends on who's money it was that you lost. Ha!
    Defiance branded cereal.
Bullet shaped crispy wafers of corn by product with sweet marshmellow Hellbug skitterlings, and chewy chocolate shield pickups.
For a limited time only, random boxes come with a variant of the popular with kids "Dead Raider Blaster" figurine. Variants include bullet holed mohawk, and brown stained pants.

True enough. Some guy in the next city from here just got whacked for a debt. We don't get many murders in this country.

ok if that is true and they were just "laid off" then why did they need to "escorted" off the premises, kinda extreme don't you think?

Considering the brutally slow pace of fixes, improvements and real content being added to the game, I can't even imagine how things are going to go now.

In all my years of schooling I never understood the thought process behind assigning group projects.

In theory it's supposed to teach you how to work with other people, but what it really teaches you is how to shift your workload onto others.
