so the defiance staff got laid off due to undelivered services - like what was promised about the game but never happened lol.

This doesnt mean they got laid off due to lack of money - but rather incompetence. Might get new staff/devs etc to work on the game instead.

And PS dont forget that trion also has Archage.

I wish everyone would stop whining and actually try to complete everything there is to complete. Instead we have a bunch of instant gratification whiners that want everything now and can't work for anything. Tell you what, if you want a game where you start out with the best items, you can't die, and you have unlimited resources go play on a private world of warcraft server.

I am sure I am not the only here who actually is in marketing and pr. Been doing it for decades, I can see a bigfail when something like this happens. So far nothing really is said on exactly who and why they were let go so most of it is speculation.

The Speculation comes when so many people are having multiple problems and things in the most part have slowly been solved, but not all. Blaming the beta/alpha testers isn't fair - we posted, we sent tickets, and things were fixed - but not all of it - not the important things.

The marketing team did a better job promoting the show than the game, I heard far more about the show outside of internet than I did the game, the throw away "and play the game" line isn't exactly marketing in it's finest. But.... the game succeeded because it did come on the heels of the show.

People are indeed carrying on a bit too much instead of posting in the Bug Forum, yes I agree. I for one would rather they fix the game than release downloadable content right now - but that won't happen, they need that new money. Lotro has been releasing massing changes to the game and ignoring people's real tech problems with it - I see Defiance going down the same path.

With the fluff tweets, facebook, podcast and the like they are keeping the casual people interested - that is their job - but it's not good for the customer. The show is standing on it's own, the game can't at this point anymore - it needs help and I hope they are reconstructing Trion and letting people go that aren't helping achieve the goal and bottom line of customer support and technical support (two of which are indeed different creatures). But I fear that may not be the case.

Anyway my 2 cents since you asked.

Quite a lot of people have.

In case you haven't been keeping up with current events, the relatively short amount of time required to do so would be one of the problems...

Instead we have a bunch of instant gratification whiners that want everything now and can't work for anything.
How is wanting a game to have some actual content and not be buggier than an antfarm a matter of 'instant gratification'?

Frankly I'm of the opinion that paying for a product and being told that eventually, maybe, they'll get around to patching things into working order is more a matter of a company wanting instant gratification than players.

Tell you what, if you want a game where you start out with the best items,
Quite honestly, given the 'vertical progression' (I use the term 'progression' rather loosely here) nature of gear, Defiance comes the closest to starting you out with best items that I've ever seen. There's no doubt in my mind that one could easily complete the storyline using only your starter weapon.

Good luck trying that in any other MMO out there.

    you can't die,
Other than through extreme inattention, how does one die in Defiance?

and you have unlimited resources go play on a private world of warcraft server.
One of the odder "go back to WoW!" lines I've ever read, can't even figure out how it applies. Whatever the case, never a wise thing to demand detractors do, mostly because they tend to do just that, leaving the "Go back to WoW!" ranters standing around wondering why their servers are empty.

    Self-defeating behavior at its finest.

If they want to complain just to complain that's like someone without a job that wants to have money but never goes to interviews to get a job and turns down job opportunities but complains they never get a job offer. There's ways to report things and honestly if it comes down to it, trion has been plenty helpful with customer support when I had problems with boosts disappearing. Am I a trion fan boy? Hell no. Am I happy that a game company has so far itched that console gaming I ve been missing for quite some time? Hell yes! I support a company who cares about gamers and not just profit. If you all want to see accompany just interested in money, look up Atari when test drive unlimited 2 was released and how bad people flamed them, including me cause that game was unplayable.
Cut ties with trion 100% and now surfing forums for people looking for their out off the wagon of trions aftermath. Pm me for details

    Contacted Microsoft
Informed of unplayablity with content and game.
    Refunded for season pass
Sold defiance to GameStop for $7.00 and put it towards gta 5
Contacted better business to inform of trions shady dealings.

Yet doing the same in an opposing manner makes you any better? They say a good way to prove insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. So you foresaw his actions and yet mimicked him. That isn't insanity so congrats... however that is a very special kind of stupid.

Yup, some quality human empathy going on.

Personally, I don't understand the vitriol. But then I have seen folks lay into staff for decisions made by top management for many years now. It is sad but there is a large population of people raised by "whatever baby booboo wants". The only real intent in the post is to assure the temper tantrum gets as much audience as possible.

What are you talking about 2 cents?!
That's way more than 2 cents.
That's pretty much what many people complaining the problems are saying.
For some reason I've been seeing a lot of assumptions made by people "defending" Trion automatically saying to give the lack of content time, where it was never mentioned.

    You summed up nicely there.
Please feel free to make more "2 cents worth", they actually seem to be very cohesive and comprehensible.

Do i feel happy thst justice is served, that the price of selling infinished stuff is paid, even id it means a game i like may be jeopardized?

Or am i sad that the people getting laid off are probably not at fault, and product of the suits breathing down their necks?
