What is the total used to give you a new level? It can't be damage as then purple guns would actually be better to level with than whites are, so is it kills? shots? what?
All guns seem to have 2 levels of use in them, until they hit max. I guess they could track the total damage figure and just award you when you pass certain scores, regardless of level on current gun.
Its a mystery to me otherwise. If its shots then bmg's must have a higher figure for each level as they are firing constantly when on a target. If its kills, detonators and RL should level faster unless they have higher figures to achieve per level. Suppose each weapon type could have different thresholds.
I guess each kill could have a different weight attached to it meaning another scale is used to determine when you get a new level.

Oh and weapon levels are gained by damage only, and Pamoth is 100% correct, once a gun is individually leveled, dump it and pick another one, since they stop giving the class xp once leveled up. I only keep the best of the best after they are fully leveled. Always remember to see what the individual guns booster is for leveling it up (under the xp bar once a gun is leveled).
