You can believe that. Or, you can believe the much simpler explanation: that the team has been working on this patch for a while now, and (after some recent backlash surrounding the practice of rushing out buggy patches and promises not to do that anymore) it was held back until Monday because it simply wasn't ready.
I mean, that is a lot easier to believe than some saga of a dev-hero being hired who can manage, code flawlessly, and take the trash out.. right?
...This is what I was afraid of, specially when I created the "A Concerned Fanboy" thread.......
I don't look so paranoid now do i?
Big question, do we know if any of the names that were out in front of Defiance giving us any semblance of information is still around?

Sledge?
Those are the only 2 really I've paid any kind of attention to...
I'm sure there are others that have been active on the Blog scape and the Forums...
Do we have any specifics?
Well again; http://forums.defiance.com/showthrea...3-amp-Xbox-360. It WAS going to be the 20th but it was delayed due to issues then all of the sudden it's right back on track. Odd for a company that is in so much trouble they would concentrate this hard to fix and release the patch eh?

I believe this has to do with a company LISTENING to it's consumers. The reviews were terrible, the initial game play was plagued by numerous bugs (some of which where pretty large), and the DEV team didn't seem to be top tier in terms of break/fix. I think the game has the foundation to be great; I really do. However, the game needs more content and permanent fixes to existing content on top of that foundation. If they are indeed cleaning house to bring in a "better" team then I think it's a fantastic move on their part. They already invested so much money into this that there is no choice now but to double down and get it moving (and quickly) in the right direction. All speculation on my part, but Trion knows what they are doing despite what some believe. In the end it's all about money. Sometimes you need to make drastic changes in order to make the initial investment pay off. IMO, I think that is what Trion is doing (at least partly). While I truly do feel for those who were let go, I think Trion is doing the right thing for their bottom line and in turn for our entertainment.
It's a nice theory, but how does laying off several members responsible for in-game cinematics address the concerns of the community? What's the last in-game cinematic you heard players complaining heavily about? I think one of the authors of the lore bible was let go in the purge also, as well as several content designers. I'm not really seeing how that's going to get us more content, more features, and less bugs any time sooner.
All it is is post launch adjustments that most MMOs do. They hire large for launch usually lots of CS people then layoff and adjust staff to a level that's sufficient for what they need post launch and hire for other projects.
