There is a perfectly reasonable explanation for all the layoffs. Someone in charge finally tried to play the game.

Yeah what’s another lifetime? Like mine?
We all die a little sometimes, it’s alright
Did you come to say your goodbyes to this life?
We all hurt a little sometimes, we’re alright

There is weakness in your grip and they are holding all our hopes
trion decide to move the game to f2p and if a company doing this for paying game (and not because they dont have players) ithink trion here to stay.

I'm not sure I can entirely agree with that. If massive layoffs were always a precursor to closures, then EA is due to fold relatively soon. SWTOR is F2P now, and they also recently laid off a very large number of their employees.
Perhaps that's not the best example, since EA has other cashflow... I'm certain that Trion has a lot of funding through SyFy and the Dodge sponsorship.
I'll be honest: I don't want you to be right, because it's always sad to see game companies, regardless of size, close. Trion is working hard to improve Defiance as quickly as possible. Here's what I forsee: The game will flounder a bit until the majority of the biggest bugs are squashed. Unfortunately, a lot of players won't have the patience to wait, and will leave for pastures that are currently brighter. There will be a dip in active players until the major DLC is released. Word will get out about the new content as well as the improvements in the overall game itself. Trion will drop the retail price of the game, further enticing some players to return, and new ones to join.
At the very least, Defiance the game will remain open as long as the show continues to air and get good viewership numbers in the teen to thirtysomething age range.
That's my two cents, but I don't guarantee they'll spend well!
With the layoffs I can get one scenario in mind.
They are trying to make an attempt to salvage things as a company.
