Personally think the major problem lies within the fact that modern games mostly try to appeal what's referred to as "casual gamers".

Games used to be made for Gamers. The real type of Gamers.
Today games are made for a broad spectrum of people, many of them playing games out of mere entertainment in having something to cheer them up a bit.
They don't want to fail, don't want to be forced consequences of their playing style, having to deal with misjudgements ingame and worst, reloading.

Just compare Morrowind gameplay with Oblivion/Skyrim.
Morrowind was a game you could fail, you've been able to kill Quest-NPCs needed for the main storyline, you had to face the fact that chosing a side does indeed have severe consequences.
    Now look at Skyrim.

    ...
    [Hellfire Legion] - PC Europe
    Libera Te Ex Inferis
EGO Do they have any good parts? I could use an upgrade.

The sad thing is, its a known illness with the name digital insanity..don´t laugh, its true! Its a big problem from the younger generation! They don´t have to figure out things, they just use google!

If you would like to know more about digital insanity....guess what? Use google!

Ps. I can´t figure out how its called exactly in English, the German word is "digitale demenz"

And thats it exactly. Also, I bet when you are figuring things out daily for your company, you dont just blindly jump in either. You use the internet, and consultants, and lawyers, and anything else that can give you information that would give you an edge over your competition. This is what I have been trying to say, using the information at your disposal doesnt make a person lazy, it makes them smart.

I simply used you for the opening quote because you said there was no complaining or flaming, when that is what this entire thread has been.
So you just targeted me for the heck of it? You... you bully!

Most of what is in this thread is in fact some good old-fashioned walking down memory lane by some ancient geezers like myself. If you can't see that, and relate to it, this is clearly not the thread you're looking for. If you somehow feel victimized by the content of this particular thread, I would recommend you cease reading it. We are exceedingly unlikely to be converted to your point of view. You know, what with being so old and set in our ways, and all.

    Have a lovely day!

why would we be offended dude? we know there are gamers out there that just play casually or whatever and then some that are more " hardcore "...its the 1s that complain about a game being too hard and pretty much want their hand held that offends us...i play some games casually as well, but sometimes i do love a game that challenges me as do most of us on here so no, we're not offended lol

+1 western societies are being dumbed down in general. Lack of moral teachings, 15 min mentality and self-entitlement thinking...

This game for a game release is massive compared to other culture game releases.. Blade and soul (easily one of the greatest games is recent and distant memory (Top game in Korea, massively popular in China and Japan)) Has 2 dungeons as end game content currently; socializing and PvP is the end game content. The game has been on hold to be released to western gamers, since they will flood the forums crying about lack of content as the game stands today. So they are waiting for content releases to mount up so they can release a larger game to the western market.

I still have a working copy of Moraff's Dungeon (the full 200 level version), loved NES and SNES though one of my favorites was Star Fox, the reason it was my favorite is because it was the first game my wife picked up and tried to beat me at, she came pretty close to it too. In the end she became a very good gamer in her own right, her favorite was God of War, she passed away last summer of cancer and I will forever miss my favorite game partner, but I will always remember the first game she challenged me with.

Well, with all due respect, I never targeted you, I targeted the entire thread. As I said, you post was only used for context as it was the best summation of what I am speaking out against here. That no one is complaining. Well im sorry, but thats about all thats being done here. Everything is being dumbed down. Sorry you feel that way, but I do not agree. I think we are just getting smarter and the game companies have yet to catch up.
