I'll just leave it here, since no one mentionned that one :

"À vaincre sans péril, on triomphe sans gloire" (Corneille, "Le Cid")
Translation : "Triumph without peril brings no glory"

    I'm an expert on something!!
People buy books to your kids, the real ones (those made of paper)
People here are wrong, they got more TVs than books and see we're it's taking us (not saying where "here" is lol)

Or didnt have cable and got like 3 or 4 channels on your tv. And dads remote was hey son change the channel. lol so you got up turned the tune dial and adjusted the antanea untill it came in..

I remember those days. and even with all the techno advances we have made theres lots of times i have to wonder if it isnt a bad thing.
Yep, 4 channels, sort of. NBC and CBS were fine, PBS fairly ok. ABC was like looking at it through a blizzard, even after turning the antenna rotor -- the sound of which I can still remember now, thanks to your post. RRRRrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrrrrrvmp.

Every part of the telephone was sturdy or heavy enough to be used as a lethal weapon. The only thing 'wireless' was the garage door opener. Pong was awesome. I literally wept with joy getting my first Atari 2600 at Christmas.

Now... we watch whatever we want from DirecTV's massive smorgasbord, any time we want via HD DVR, on an embarassingly large and gorgeous plasma screen with home theater sound. Or watch Blu-Rays on it, or play 360 and PS3 games on it. Or play games on a ridiculously powerful gaming PC that would have blown NASA's collective minds not so long ago. Or use a handheld or tablet or phone, the magic of which would either have gotten you burned as a witch, or worshipped as a god, in the past.

IMO, it's not a bad thing.
