The entire area near the Sierra Nevada's is Silicone Valley. Microshaft is in San Diego, Apple, is in San Diego, Sony Online Entertainment is in San Diego. That IS Silicone Valley.
Yeah, and I have lived in both Redding and Chico, both far better places than southern Cali.
Silicone Valley... yeah, they got tons of those in CA, especially near West Hollywood.
Oh yeah, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_Valley
How young are you? Silicon Valley is centered around San Jose (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicon_Valley). I've been there several times for business.
EDIT: Apparently your version of Silicon Valley has an 'e' at the end. I guess it's a different place.
Oh nice, you can find wikipedia references. Did you even read past the first paragraph? Did you see all the companies headquartered in San Diego (including ones I mentioned) that it includes as part of "Silicone Valley"?
How about this one:
"Silicon Valley encompasses all of the Santa Clara Valley including the city of San Jose (and adjacent communities), the southern Peninsula Valley, and the southern East Bay. However, with the rapid growth of technology jobs in the San Francisco metropolitan area, some commentators now argue that the traditional boundaries of Silicon Valley have expanded north to include the rest of San Mateo County and the City and County of San Francisco, as well as parts of Marin County.[3]"
