Have some questions about forums...

I am new to forums and there are a couple questions I have.

1. what defines a thread to be "flaming". curious because some of mine that I started were marked this way. is it something bad?

2. define and explain what exactly is trolling. I mean I think I understand but a clearer definition would be helpful.

3. I have come to the realization that although a lot of the information posted here is helpful, the majority seems to be filled with complaints and whining. do people really have no life that that deem it necessary to publicly bash peoples ideas and opinions because their opinion differs. seems like there is more negative comments on here than anything else. maybe they should have their own place on here that would separate the useful from the crap.

4. what exactly defines someone a "fanboy" . I enjoy the game. of course I see the flaws but that's not going to keep me from playing because I really have fun playing it. im excited about the future and possibilities of the game so does that make me a "fanboy"? because to be honest this label does not seem to be endearing.


5. this is off topic but im curious about something I read that's coming up in the 1.020 patch. its called "sieges". anyone know more info on this?

1. Basically being really rude to or attacking someone.

2. Trolling is making a disruptive post with the intention of generating a lot of negative replies. Basically it's doing bad things to get attention.

4. "Fanboy" is not an endearing term. It basically means that someone's love for something is so unreasonable that they will attack any criticism no matter how reasonable.

5. It's something that is supposed to be included with the first DLC. It will be a big open world group event like an Arkfall, but more challenging and will include the Volge.

Where did you get this info? I know I have heard it will be big and open world but I haven't heard anything else. It's not that I think you're full of shtako but I'd like to see for myself?

aahhh well thank you for the info. u said that the flaming thread was caused by someone being rude or attacking. I try very hard not to do that, but I assuming that if someone comments on it that is it will cause the flame. is this a flag for the sup mods so they can watch the post? and if what u say is true about sieges then I cant freaking wait! that's gonna be awesome! and thanx again for the info

1. The envelope with a flame indicates a hot topic. Probably triggered by some combination of views and replies.

2. Trolling is basically posting with the intent of provoking a hostile response.

3. I'm sorry, I had trouble hearing what you were saying about bashing people with differing opinions over the sound of the irony you dropped.

4. In general, a fanboy is someone who is so enthusiastic about something that they feel the need to try to refute any contrary opinion or acknowledge any flaw in the object of their fandom. As you surmised, it is not a term of endearment.

5. They talked about sieges on Across the Badlands last week and a couple of people posted the relevant details here. You might try searching for siege and Badlands.

shogo- responding to #3. I apologize I wasn't intentionally trying to complain or whine and maybe I should've explained a little better. I meant to simply say that it seems like it would be more constructive to separate the complaints and the legitimate forum discussions. and you're right though after reading what I wrote i was doing the same thing. was not my intention
