Will I be able to make Castithan or Indogene characters?

I got the beta invite for this weekend and went to make a character. I was kind of disappointed that I couldn't make an Indogene character, and was restricted to just Human or Irathient. Is this a restriction for the beta, or is this just going to be the extent of what races are in the game?

Also, if other races are being added later, when will that happen, since I personally don't care to reroll a character and go through all the content twice, so if it's something that happens later I'd much rather just wait until I can make the character I want to buy the game.

Human and Irathient are the only two. There is an unknown third race with the Season Pass.

I think I'll hold off on buying the game until the races I want to play are available. I find it a bit disappointing that they failed to put them all in in a setting that is so heavily predicated on many different species coexisting.

Surprised somebody was able to discern the races from the limited info available on the series. We got a father geek all up in here. Thought there had to be more races, so i'm also disappointed that the races are being sold instead of tossed into the core game. From what it appears the races are just cosmetic and don't seem to play any real big factor yet. (Cass, for example, will never react to you being Irathian as well), and your character seems to be the typical silent protagonist type. Really would like to see that changed too. You play the role of guy/gal who shoots stuff, and that's pretty much it. Need some semblance of a civilian identity; maybe even something of a bio you can create for your character at the very least. Maybe there's something planned, considering the inspect option is non functional at the moment.

Why 35.00? You could probably just buy the dlc content that introduces the third character.

Not sure how you think that. There's plenty of info on such and even videos. Following Defiance on Facebook or a trip to the wiki pretty much gets that information to folks.

As for much of the other stuff you're asking on. They're selling the game as a Shooter, with some lite mmorpg elements. As much as most of us would like all the other QoL stuff for the rpg feel, none of that is coming launch and only minimally later(ie additional race to play etc) post launch in DLC.

Also you do know, theoretically, you can get to 5000 ego rating without touching a single mission in game in its current form. Granted that would really be tedious in many ways but you could do it.
