Xbox one not backward compatible

Actually, no, I have my original xbox 360 and it played xbox discs without needing to patch. They did however keep releasing compatibility updates until 2007 to get more games to work properly, but no, it still had backwards compatibility even if it was limited.

As for online connectivity that is a completely different issue and has nothing to do with the games being backwards compatible and more to do with them not keeping servers going for the online connectivity on "obsolete" games.

go pop in halo 2, gta san andreas it kicks you off line when your playing an original xbox game durp and there was a title update to play xbox orginal games durp they updated the 360 to play the old and broken durp

I'm not broken up at all about the lack of backwards compatibility. I've enjoyed the games I played in the past, I enjoy the games I play now, and I'll probably enjoy the games in the future. If I want to play some old game, I can always power up the console that it's on. Or will my 360 suddenly stop working once ONE is launched?

I'll look back with fond memory on games like Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption, just as I look back with fondness for Morrowind and A Bard's Tale, but I don't even play them now, so I don't need to worry about playing them when I have a whole bunch of new (probably amazing looking) games to play on the next gen of consoles.

I imagine it'll linger for a few years after the launch of ONE, but they'll eventually close it down so they can put those resources towards other endeavors.
