PS4 or Xbox One? What will your affect your decision?

I own several ps3's, one in each room, because they are great media network stations with true high definition visuals and audio, the point I made was owning several of a crap console seems crazy, and a huge waste of money as well as ruin everybody's hearing.

i own my xbox 360, my roommate owns his. several people on these forums have mentioned having a console for each spouse so they don't have to deal with split screen in order to game together. mine is a launch day model, it burned out after 2 years of hard use, sent in, they fixed it, no issues since then.

you trash talk people who buy a system that works for them, while claiming superiority about owning multiple, far more expensive, systems, that obviously don't work for them. after working retail for the launch of all 3, xbox 360, ps3, and wii, i will personally never spend money on a sony system, as, of the demo models we got in... the ps3 is the only one that had to be replaced... about 5 times, in 4 years (then i had to move out of colorado, so dunno how many more have had to go in the last 3 years). including having to break open one of the unsold launch day boxes, on launch day, because the demo machine that had been hooked up a grand total of 1 week.... had already fried all of its controller ports, leaving it worthless as a demo machine.

so, feel free to keep raging about how stupid i am, because i know people will buy more than one of a given console of their choice, for their own, personal, reasons... while failing utterly to see how the exact same statements you're making now, apply to yourself as well.

no claims.. actual facts show 87% fail from launch model, today, the remade versions only do as good as 54% failure rate.. there is a reason ps3 has more online users, .05% failure rate is pretty damn good.. so grats to you, for being the 13%, grab a lotto ticket or something, still doesn't change the fact that you lack the ability to comprehend the english language.

I don't trash talk people who by garbage and believe it's good or preach that it's good with no facts like some door to door bible thumper {no particular religion here.. the word "bible" can mean several different types of text} nearly as much as I do people who claim they should buy several of bad products, or to run out and buy several more without doing any research or testing on them.

it would seem you're the one who is failing to comprehend anything at all. you spoke from your previous experience, i spoke from mine. you're then raging on me for no reason other than you can't come up with anything more constructive to say. i'm pointing out that your blanket statements can easily be applied to your side of the discussion just as easily as they could mine, and you... fail to understand any of it. then go back to raging.

... did she leave you for someone who prefers xbox? did she take the kids and your dog, too, when she left? i can think of no other reason for your obvious blind hate for people who don't like sony products. it's very similar to the blind hate the *** have for people based on skin tone.

before you fly off the handle (again) and take my words out of context (again), i did NOT say you had a pointy white hat in your closet. i used the *** as a reference point for showing just how utterly pointless your hatred of others is, based on a decision that is entirely personal. i prefer xbox 360 mostly for the controller, no other reason, as all the games i play on it are not exclusive titles. i've played games on the ps3, i want to smash the controllers with a hammer because to me they are tiny, un-responsive, and poorly designed. that is (again) my PERSONAL opinion.

i also know someone who plays street fighter 4 on ps3, online, with his FEET. and he WINS. because the ps3 controller, to him, feels custom made. (and his feet seem more like that of a gorilla than a human, as he did the same thing playing super mario world on SNES).

i know you won't ready any of that. you'll just see that it was a response to you. and you'll rage, and complain, and again try to call me an idiot, and question my parentage. which will do nothing but convince onlookers that you really don't know what you're talking about. if you communicate with a level head, instead of with a bright red face and a shaking fist, you'll actually make progress on having a debate, instead of an argument.

I'm sorry, but I see no reason to have multiple xbox's, of any generation, unless you planned ahead and just bought spares to replace when the one you play burns out every 4 months...

So you see no reason why I should own two 360s? Really? No reason why I would want to play games like Defiance, Mass Effect 3, and Fable with the love of my life? No reason to game with my spouse at all? Really? I have a 360 and she has a 360. We play Defiance, Mass Effect, Need for Speed, and Left 4 Dead together. Not all of those games have a split screen option. Hell sometimes we each load up Skyrim and have a laugh comparing the random encounters we run into. If you don't see the logic behind owning two consoles than you are either lonely or your significant other doesn't enjoy gaming. The couple that plays together stays together my friend.

Also, I feel I should note that I had my 2005 launch console until I decided to upgrade to the slim model. Not because it burnt out but because I felt like upgrading.

If I were to be buying a console then it would have to be based on past reputations of the manufacturers.
Microsoft : They have consistently released the most powerful console without false promises and over hyping with things like pre-rendered scenes. Although their game library is not very good here in Japan and the availability of games is not as wide spread as the playstation 3.

Sony : Lied about the capabilities of the RSX Reality synthesizer in the PS2. Claiming that it could be updated via software to be faster and more powerful, claiming that it evolves with time. They showed per-rendered cut scenes at an electronics show and said they were real time graphics.
Lied about the capabilities of the PS3. Once again, hyping up the CPU architecture to be the best thing on the planet. Wowing people with the numbers which meant nothing in reality. Sony's machines have persistently come 2nd when it comes to power and capabilities. Again, they showed per-rendered video and claimed it to be real time graphics in a game. Their tactic of using 1080p, per-rendered video in games, in the hope that people would mistake it for actual graphics, was cheap in my opinion.
Sony have got where they are today, not only because they are a good quality manufacturer but mainly because they know how to hype something up. They are experts and hyping products and making people believe their claims. Heck, as far as I have read they even hire psychologists and other professionals to tap in to what makes us think.

The Next Gen
The Xbox One - To me this will be the winner. Even though they showed it as a set top box, I believe it's potential as a gaming system lies hidden and will surprise us all come launch. They did not go in to the detailed specifications of their machine during the show, which means to me that they could be incorporating newer advances in technology as time progresses. Microsoft also do not over hype their product with per-rendered scenes.

The PS4 -
Sony is at it again with their hype on this system. They have shown Watchdogs, running on a PC (admitted by staff) and some per-rendered scenes being made on a workstation PC for the next Final Fantasy. What people saw was so obviously somebody working on the intro or cut scenes for the game yet they still claimed it to be real time rendering on an actual PS4. They released specifications which detail a GPU not much better then a Radeon 7970, A CPU not much better than a AMD FX-85xx and GDDR RAM (I don't know why people got so stuck on GGDR as main memory GDDR5 stands for Graphics Double Data Rate - Series 5). What does this mean for the architecture of the PS4? It means it is like it's predecessor : it will seriously lack in the one important factor which gamers look for with next gen consoles : The ability to produce better graphics and smoother frame rates than it's competitor. Why say this : Sony has failed once before on RAM related specs. They "hype" word "GDDR5" was just a cheeky addition and I felt it was picking on people who don't know what it means. They have released very little information on the system's RAM and how it will work and I believe it is seriously going to be lacking in RAM dedicated to video hardware.
