    WildStar

So, I just recently heard about WildStar and have started following it. Has anybody else been reading up on it? The more information they release, the more amazing it seems. It also looks like every time they release information, it's about things that are already completed (such as Housing, Paths, etc). I could be wrong, but it looks like this stuff is already polished!

The dev team (if it works like they say) is going to blow up the MMO industry with all these innovations. And by innovations, I mean letting everybody do everything they've always wanted in a game. Want Player Housing? Check, hell we'll give you buffs through it. Want to choose your own gameplay? Check. Want to have Guild vs Guild battles using your own Guild Structures? Check. Want super fast action combat? Check.

If you can get past the really cartoon-y look, then this game looks like the best game I've ever played. I also really like all the humor that's in it, although there's probably not as much in-game as there is in the trailers and dev video blogs. But I hope there is, because it's actually good witty humor.

I hope I get into beta soon! Because besides the cartoon-y look, this is my dream game. Seriously, if I get into beta I'm gonna need a new pair of pants!

When this game comes out, I think us Off-Topic folks should start a guild and play together. Those of us on PC anyways. What say you?!

What I have heard about it sounds interesting. Gonna give it a try when it comes out.

Firstly: How's the advertising money? Is it good? They paying you well?

Secondly: The combat looks generic as jek. It just seems like standard WoW MMO crap to me. I only ever put up with that in TOR because of the great dialogue and storylines.

So, unless it's fully voiced, has decision making, and an amazing storyline, I couldn't give a Pow's arse about it. And guess what pally? The whole clan warfare and player home thing ain't new. And even the art style is just generic, cell-shaded cartoon graphics. All in all it just looks super generic.

Why? Do you have more friends who play on consoles?

Haha I'm not getting paid anything, I'm just excited about it. And the combat is far from generic. It's nothing like the super-slow combat such as WoW and TOR. It's fast-pace and reflexive. The movement is fluid and quick, with double jumps and everything. Even faster than GW2!

I'm pretty sure it's fully voiced, don't quote me though. I don't think there's decision making in terms of storyline, but I hear the story is great (as long as you like humor thrown in). And I know the player home and clan warfare aren't new, but they're adding so much to those two features that it blows other games away in those features. Just look at player housing, they're going to have buffs, crafting stations, raid portals, and even your own group dungeons only accessible from your house! It's not just fluff add-on like in other games, it's a core system in Wildstar.

Lol no. What game are you playing that blows this away? I am sure if you think about it nothing. Some people are just unhappy and enjoy putting a negative light on things that show promise. Being a critic just to say something critical is ridiculous, what they have shown of this game so far is some of the absolute best presentation of what has been lacking in the mmo industry for a long time. If you can't see that, or don't like mmo's then I think you are in the wrong thread.

DCUO allows you to get buffs from a station and have a teleporter that can take you to anywhere you want. That, plus a place anywhere decoration system. From what I saw in the trailer of WildStar, it appears to be a fixed system. So no, they aren't really "adding so much". As for the combat, see below.

All they have on their website is flashy CG trailers. I looked up an actual gameplay video and the gameplay looks like standard, WoW crap. The cartoony graphics don't do it any favors either, since it even makes it look like WoW. When I watched some of the gameplay on TotalBiscuit's preview (this one), I actually thought "Hey, I've been to that part of the Badlands! It looks like it's just north of Crossroads."

Of course you do, he's defending a game you like. And he's doing it with nothing other than ad hominem attacks. He's the epitome of what's wrong with fans. Here's another one of TB's videos that perfectly describes what's wrong with fanboy culture nowadays.

I'm not bashing the game for the sake of bashing it. I'm being critical of it because if we continue to let developers make generic games and sell them with flashy CG trailers, the game industry is going to become a festering wound of what it once was. Hell, maybe I'm being optimistic and it's actually already happened.

And to go ahead and preemptively nip this rebuttal in the bud, I have defended the game Destiny in past posts. Mainly because their selling point isn't "OoooOooh look, funny cartoon people!" and "Hey, this is gonna be a shared-world FPS. Here's some tidbits of gameplay paired with us talking about what we're trying to do that's new."

I know I won't play it. I am tired of fantasy MMORPGs since I got burnt out with WoW.
The clock goes round and round.
    Where it goes nobody knows.
Except those few who don't try and loose.
The clock keeps ticking as fortune glooms.
Fore those who are loose with what they choose.
The clock keeps ticking over those bafoons while the watchful eye always looms.
