Failed to install a necessary game file.

So I updated earlier while the servers were down, now it asks me to install the game again, press A to do so then the message "Failed to install a necessary game file" Any help?

And I know about the downtime, the reason why I've posted this is because my friend has been online recently.

Delete all the game stuff off your hard drive and do a clean re-install. Dunno if it'll help, but bout the best advice I can imagine you'll get. You won't lose your characters or anything important, all that is stored on Trion's servers.
