I really don't understand how this will make players happy. All this would do is remove options for people.

It was an idea to get people playing again. Playing with one less option is better then not playing? There is nothing Critical to the game play in the defiance store.

But once again, why would that encourage people to play? If you weren't buying stuff from the cash shop anyway, this would not really affect you in any way. If you were someone who wanted to spend money on stuff in the cash shop this would annoy you because you've had an option taken away.

So all you'll have is people who don't care and people who will be annoyed without actually making anyone happy.

The duplicate items were all the items you'd previously bought and claimed; they were back in the claim items window. Meaning: shutting down the store would allow access to the game...

The OP is suggesting they disable the store (where the problem is) so that they can bring the servers back up and we can play while they work on fixing the problem.

Ok, that makes sense. But it sounds like just fixing the problem would be roughly as much of a hassle as completely disabling the cash shop would be though.

Like I said before, I am not a programer so I am not sure what it would entail. But with other features like Freight Yard they turned it off and on pretty easily. They could fix the coding in the back and Bring the cash shop back when its not broken. I am not saying do away with it totally.

I think the idea is to have a very temporary fix. I have no idea if it's feasible, but if there was a way to disable a problem area that didn't impact gameplay directly, which seems to be the case here, then from a customer service standpoint it would be the sensible option. The money making vehicle for this game is bits, and only people at least somewhat engrossed in the game are going to purchase them. Having numerous access (and gameplay) problems can break the spell, so to speak. I think Trion should have tested this patch more completely before dropping it live. Setting up a test server would have spotted this (now, what, 4 hour?) delaying problem quite quickly. Annoying people with things of this nature when they could be avoided will end up costing them money if they keep it up. Just sayin'.

Brilliant... but they don't think like that at Trion. There are people on these forums alone that readily admit to having spent 100's of dollars on that Defiance store buying nothing.

I myself have spent $40 after game purchase buying "convenience"... wow
