    Anyone played "Grandia" before?

What the title says. I wish more present/future games were like that.

Not that one. I played the original first Grandia came out on the playstation and sega. I also have it on my phone as I use a psx emulator, and you seriously need to take a look into it, it's one of my favourite games

Was their only one "Star Ocean"? I haven't done much research on that. It was mostly the battle system & exp gaining gaining system that made me really fond of the game.

The more you used fire magic, the stronger that element would become + boosting a certain stat (in this case, fire element level up = +1 Wit), along with learning stronger attacks linked to that element (burn > burnflame > burnflare), and so on.

Also the fact that you could combine to elements to make another element type.

Example: Water + Wind = Ice

    It was epic

There were like 4 games that I know of, and they even made a short-run attempt at an animated series based on Star Ocean 2 (the more-popular of the series). They have also rebooted like the first two for PSP, and added a few characters into them from time to time.

Really most of the game's story was done in reverse after the second one, though; Part 3 was loosely based on a video game created within the game's universe (lol fourth wall broken numerous times, sometimes literally), and the fourth one was a prequel to the second game; it immediately followed the first game's storyline, and was a few years before Claude and Rena "met" in the second.

The series as a whole is pretty great, and yeah the battle system is probably one of the best in the RPG standard - to a point where Square Enix basically ripped parts of it off for FFXIII.

Well I don't believe that I have played it, but Grandia Xtreme was so good. I can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed it. Played through it twice.
