Taking the servers down for hours over duplicated items seems like an overkill, wouldnt it be easier to post a message saying duplicate and youll get banned then work on a fix?

I was expecting something to happen.
The v1.016 patch was just Mon and it was just a minor patch right after a crap load of layoffs. It had even been delayed itself a few days. And it was said by Trion itself that it was delayed to due issues with the patch. And it was only supposed to be a minor patch all along.
V1.02 was for quite awhile being promoted as "a big patch" and then it's date is suddenly announced as only a few days after that small yet delayed patch.

Given all those built up circumstances.......there is no friggin way a "big patch" this soon after all that wasn't rushed.

I really am thinking it was rushed for a PR boost after the layoffs in order to calm the masses worried about Defiance being continued.
