ETA, Just saying...

At 1250 Sedge posted that they would update with an ETA, it's now almost 4 hours later and still they don't even have an update.

WOndering if Sledge just forgot to update or if things are so bad that their are no plans on having the servers up any time soon.

On another note, this is starting to look like a greedy peric (sp??) victory.

I mean they have taken the servers down because people are getting duplicate items for free, instead of having to spend bits to buy them, which means lost income...

But the servers have been down so long, that some people will give up on the game. Many of us won't even consider purchases now because of all the issues. And the people who were getting any free rewards were the people who already paid money. I mean the free arkhunter stuff being duplicated, can't really be bought except for as in boosts, and people will still buy boosts because they are only getting 1 level upgrades from the arkhunter codes.

Long story short, to ensure people don't get free stuff, they are gonna ensure that they lose players and that the players they keep are less likely to spend cash on the game. They win, but they end up losing more then what they won.

I know due to stuff like this I will not and am glad I did not buy a season pass.

If anything, Sledge is probably waiting for a response from the head of the Dev team to give him that time. They will have to find a way to fix the issue, then give it a QA test, and possibly a few more before they can throw it up on the server. So Sledge has to wait for that while talking to the other parts of the team to get this going. He is indeed a busy people.

And of course people will give up the game. People give up the game for sillier reasons but they usually come back. You cannot please everyone. You are darn if you do and darn if you don't. They can only try and find a compromise.

OMG I'm glad I don't work there, what a nightmare when something is soo bad that 4 hours in they still can't even guess when it will be back up.

This, exactly. the Defiance Dev Team loses more credibility with each patch, and Sledge and the CM team get the brunt of it. People need to understand: the CM is a mouthpiece. He's giving out the information he's told to. If the Dev team says, "No ETA", that's what he has to go with.

The problem here is the Dev team has a serious quality control issue. If this had happened once, and that was it, people would probably be a little (a LITTLE) more complacent about it... but it happens every time they send out a major patch.

They're setting a really bad precedent for themselves, and ruining Trion's reputation in the process. This hurts their future endeavors: Archeage is on the horizon; how many people won't touch it because Trion is handling the U.S. end of things as a result of what's happening with Defiance?

This is a little more than one botched patch they are working on, the last time I saw this was in Diablo III. They gave very little information, they tried delaying tactics, they would post foggy updates (Such as the ETA unknown, as fast as we can I promise we got here). So far Trion has has several issues with the game, a lot more than one botched patch, or have you never reloaded a gun more than once before you could fire? Perhaps hit a hard freeze. Have you been able to play Freight Yard aside from the short time the game was actually up after the patch? There are two ways to handle things like this, one is to make people happy that they stuck with you (a key to that is NOT giving them rewards that EXPIRE) or you can follow the Path of Diablo III, which lead them to loosing a huuuge chunk of players that they still haven't fully recovered from.

And I can tell you from experience, when Rift came out (Trions first game) They were a lot more open with their customers,and they gave actual rewards when things like what is happening now on Defiance happened on Rift, and it was quite different than they are acting now with Defiance.
