US Air Force 3c2
My first station was Barksdale, building bombs for the Big Ugly Fat F##kers, can't believe some of the crap they do to keep those things in the air, but good news is the next thing up on the plate is a new long range strategic bomber! None of that fancy B1 or B2 crap, just wings and bombs.
@Lone Star
Vietnam-ear M16A2 decision to go from full auto to 3-round burst was to conserve ammo, at least that's what they told us. The barrel temperature may have been another "real" issue as well. And you're talking about alot of kentucky windage there Lone Star...yes you adjust for all of those things by making adjustments to calibrated drums on the weapon itself, not by aiming higher or lower. Of course you do have to lead a moving target...which is a similar idea. From personal experience I can nail anything head-sized from 500m in semi-auto mode, but I have trouble hitting a torso from 200m in burst- the "bloom" can be very hard to control if you get distracted by it. That's all on a range, with little real distraction.
Unfortunately, asthma kept me out, but my wife retired Army National Guard after a year in Iraq our 1st year of marriage.
I always take every opportunity to thanks our service members for all their dedication and sacrifice.
7 years active duty army here. 5 years as an 11B in 75th, 82nd, and 2ID. Last 2 years in 10th Mtn ****bag division as a 67S.
Oddly enough I lost the hearing in one ear to to a rapid loss of pressure, and the VA pestered me for a year to apply for benefits, saying it was a sure deal, this was many years ago though.
I never did, though I am on disability now due to a virtual cornucopia of major health issues.
