It honestly sounds to me like you have no idea how an online business works.

You have a product. Every moment your product is down you are losing customers, revenue, investment, and worse of all the publicity will kill future growth.

There is no skeleton crew working on this, everyone applicable works into the midnight hours. Anyone salary has to be there automatically, anyone contract is probably required to be there anyway in times of emergency or system outages. Anyone with normal employment status that is still hourly is getting paid overtime.

The minute cost of keeping all of these people on task is far outweighed by the cost of having the servers down. This is not about the employees of Trion saying "Oh im off the clock lets go home." This is about their bosses and CEOs saying "Fix this ASAP, You get to go home when your done"


If I worked at Trion I would stay all night without an issue. This does not happen often enough for it to become an issue and the Unemployment line is not where I want to spend my time.

I am a system admin for my office. You don't go home until issue/outrage is fixed or at least rolled back to operational status because in my line, hiccups on essential business operations (example email) can cost the business millions.

I agree with you, computer programmers do not take breaks. If they eat it is something that is delievered or the interm went to pick up. They might have a short smoke break and that's about it. Programmers are just like a full time gamer, they eat pizza and drink mountain dew at their desk.

Also the problem was said to be an item duplication method that they are tring to fix, every thing is fine they just don't want people making duplications of rare items. My guess is that someone is going to be getting banned from the game before the night is over.
