The part I enjoy the most is the longer Trion takes to get its **** together (we're at two months now) the worse the reaction is going to get each patch issue.

Would be easy to roll back client side. Just re-enable the 1.017 patch and let 'er rip. Of course folks would be horsed off about having to re-download, but there's no technical reason it wouldn't work.
Some people don't understand what goes into making or implementing these patches I agree with you there. However the company that hired the people to do this job does, and the techs that put the patches on the server knew what they were doing or should have known what they were doing made a really bad mistake. I work on servers and write coding on a daily basis so do I know how much of a pain it is but the fact of the matter is that the techs are at fault for not paying attention to the work that they are getting paid to do. I haven't complained about this yet and I'm not going to because it cant be changed and its going to take time to fix but I do hope they get it fixed soon. What I will say is I hope they pay a little more attention in the future so that this does not happen again.
Well I paid for the $150 first class ticket on this flight and I'm riding it all the way to the ground... I hope Trion can solve these issues and get their product more stable so EVERY patch, client update, and (most likely) DLC does not result in an entire day of downtime. There is huge potential and I am a big fan, but it is even starting to wear on me as well.
I can also see where people are frustrated by the lack of communication. To this point there has been no talk about an ETA time and the posts for server status have been once per hour at best. I think someone needs to post an update with some specific information about what exactly the problem is and why it has taken so long. At least some sort of ETA would be nice.
As I said in another thread, I run a web hosting business where even some of my clients are MMO's. I also wish my clients understood what was involved in updating a server and all of its systems. Sadly, if we're offline for more than 45 mins a MONTH, we'd go out of business. No company can expect to get praise for a lack of customer service, and every company is expected to compete with industry standards. No matter how complex it is, other MMO's can do it, I can do it, they should too. Case in point.
Holly pow.. I knew i was gonna get flamed for posting this thread, im glad every single one of you guys are game developers, thank you all for the insightful information. One last thing, you guys mind posting the games you've developed so far..
Never said I wrote code for games. But if you can find it somewhere in my post I'll gladly apologize to you. All coding isn't just for gaming tho.
My point is when you add something or anything to a server and you over write what you had on there before you can cause problems if you're off by one number or a period maybe even a comma. It's a good possibility that you don't mess up something that you just wrote but something you had already written prior to. I was just making a simple statement agreeing with you for the most part but then you just had to be an jerk.
I know what I do for a living. What do you do? Since your knowledge base on coding is so large that you were able to start a post on it.
