Defiance Siege mode in-depth explanation found in-game

I just stumbled upon something introduced in patch 1.020. Within the intel section of the radial menu, under the help topic, Sieges has been listed. The description is as follows.

"Sieges are special events which task players with capturing and defending objectives while fighting hordes of enemies. Once the siege event is kicked off, players have a limited time to increase their score by capturing objectives and by defeating enemies. Kill enemies to progress stages. Later stages have more enemies, more enemies means more points, more points mean better rewards!"
What are your thoughts then? Firefight/Horde/Zombie mode within an open online world that occurs randomly. I personally can't wait!

    My thoughts?

I need to change my pants if I'm honest, I was hoping something like this would be implemented into Defiance. The only thing that I want to know is if these 'Sieges' can be set up at any given time.

I'm not the one for waiting around hoping an event will like this will 'pop up' randomly, however, seeing as Shadow Wars can be set up and people need to join in order for it to begin then these Sieges shouldn't be any different.

Have you got the gonads to own the Nomad?

I look forward to trying out sieges... and since they were wise enough to tie rewards to bonuses, it should encourage people to participate better instead of just tagging and running away.

I love the idea of Sieges. Really looking forward to it but my question is this: If the players participating in the Siege fail to meet the criteria set forth at the on-set, what effects does this have on the game world itself until the next Siege.

Let's say the Volge invade an area, players respond and fail at capturing/holding/accomplishing the goals. Do we now have random encounters with Volge elsewhere throughout the world until the "lost" siege area is reclaimed by the players? Personally, this would be awesome in my opinion but I'm curious what the rest of you think about this.
When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

Sounds a little like the ME3 multiplayer mode, or the defense/mobile defense modes in Warframe. I enjoyed both these things.

Never played the 3rd...or any of the Saint's Row games, just didn't appeal to me. Was that how it was in those games?
